The smart cities conversation is one I care deeply about. For me, it has always been about more than technology and infrastructure. It is about people.

Being part of ASCIC 2026 in Laâyoune, Morocco, and delivering my keynote on community-led innovation reaffirmed why I do this work.

It is the same belief driving Foster Green Labs: using local knowledge, climate data and innovation to develop solutions that respond to real community needs.

I return inspired, with a stronger conviction that we must build WITH communities, not just FOR them. #smartcities #communityled by @gracekimaru

Saturdays are for learning new hobbies!
Today I tried my hands at pottery shaping clay, creativity, and possibilities. Beyond art, such skills create livelihoods, empower communities, and nurture sustainable craftsmanship.

Postcards from Blue Economy Summit 2025!!

It was more than just a meeting , it was a space where critical conversations on the future of Kenya’s maritime sector came alive.

From discussions on IMO’s net-zero framework to scenario-based group work, one thing became clear: the future of Kenya’s blue economy must be smart, safe, inclusive and decarbonized.

My reflection? Decarbonisation is not just about meeting targets it’s about protecting communities, creating resilient livelihoods, and unlocking opportunities for generations to come.

For me and for AECBEDF, this summit underscored the importance of linking global blue economy goals to local solutions whether it’s training communities, supporting sustainable fishing practices, or building innovations that truly make a difference.
