Despite the heartbreak of Grandpa declining and not being able to come home to Florida with us, this weekend still gave Gracie something really special. Manda completely took us in and gave her the chance to ride some very fancy reining horses and experience a whole different side of the horse world.

She got to watch a reining show, learn how this discipline works, and see the community side of it too, right down to all the exhibitors sitting down together for a potluck-style chicken dinner. 🐴🤍

One of the things I love most about raising a horse girl is teaching her to appreciate good horsemanship in all its forms. Jumpers may be her world, but there is so much to learn from every discipline, every barn, and every kind of horseman. This weekend was a beautiful reminder that becoming a well-rounded rider means staying curious, respectful, and willing to learn from all corners of the horse world.

And in the middle of a really difficult trip, I’m so grateful she got to have this little pocket of joy. #reininghorses #horses #aqha #equestrian #cowhorse taken in Midland County Fair, MI by @gracemaeequestrian
