Here’s a history lesson you weren’t expecting…

📍Whale Night Hong Kong - themed “Fire and Fortune”

I’m a nerd when it comes to fashion and personal style. Most things I wear hold a significance.

In this case, it’s this antique gold chain link mesh bag by Whiting & Davis, dated to the 1930s-1950s.

These bags were originally linked by hand in women’s groups from the 1890s until the 1910s. If you are lucky enough to find one, the price tag and craftsmanship reflect the skill. Factories took over in 1912. The bags are still beautiful, but not as unique (relatively - they are still much higher quality than anything produced today).

I thought it was a little symbolic to wear it to an industry event with ties to AI. Is there a way to move forward in efficiency while maintaining beauty and human soul?

The bag and gold accessories represent the “fortune” part of the theme.

As for the “fire,” I had several red dress options but chose this one for the movement. To me, the cape looks like a flame dancing in the wind 💃🏼🔥 by @graceremitv

Prince of Egypt! How do I even begin.

Back in February, I told some friends that THIS specific cast in THIS specific show had the power to change lives, making it a “once-in-a-lifetime” experience.

Six months later, my jaw dropped when I saw a review describe us the exact same way!

I’m so honored to share the stage with such beautiful people (how am I even allowed to breathe the same air as our dancers??) - I have no doubt God was smiling down on his creatures and the art we made.

If you were in the audience or on stage, know that every time I performed I took your prayer intentions with me to the mountain top.

And if you’re still struggling in bondage - whether it be a slavery to anxiety, to depression, to screens, to gossip, to insecurity or financial burden - know this: God WILL deliver you. He WANTS to deliver you.

The show is closed, but after our cast party this weekend, I hesitate to say this chapter “ends.” The beauty of God’s Word is it’s living, afterall.

My wish from the start was that everyone who saw us experienced the healing power of hope.

Hope shows up every day. Hope fights. Hope moves. It wears a smile when life is tough. Strong people practice hope.

How blessed am I to have castmates and friends I can describe the same way 😌 thank you all ✨ by @graceremitv
