My Nanny. The Italian queen, bowling star, best cook, interior designer, holiday host, and the greatest grandmother in the world. How lucky I feel to have had all 25 years of my life with you in them. You never missed a beat… Every birthday, graduation, dance show—every milestone—you were there. Many of the happiest memories I have in this life, are ones I shared with you.

There is a deep hole in my heart with you gone. Your witty and blunt humor, your selflessness, devotion to our family, and your fighter spirit are just a few of the millions of reasons I admire you. The way you loved me and always saw me for who I am is just a testament to the incredible person you were. You took people in like they were family, and everyone who knew you, loved you.

More than anything, I’ll miss coming to your house for dinner, laughing for hours about whatever we wanted to. You taught me my independence, and to speak my truth without worrying what others thought. Forever, I will carry you with me. I love you so much. I never knew how much I could love a pet until I met you, my Skye. You were a gift from my mom in college; little did I know you’d be with me through every new home, every life milestone. My shadow, everywhere I went. You brought joy to the worst of days and made the good days even brighter. You were a piece of me— sassy, independent, spunky, sweet, and full of personality. Everyone who knows me, knows how much I love you & how much I loved being your mommy. I know just how special you were because even the people who claimed they “didn’t like cats”, adored you.
