Future Nostalgia Diaries: Maine family trip 🤍

In these cherished moments, I like to picture my future self nostalgic for the reality in which I’m living. The result is a deep connection with the present before it becomes a memory ✨

The sweet in-between. No wedding planning, no babies yet, just us. There’s something so calm and good for the soul about this chapter of life. And I’m honestly already nostalgic for it when it ends. 🫶🏼 by @gracesteeltravers

This is 31. My Mount Whitney Misogi 🏔️

People say when you hit 30 you fully embrace who you are. Less second guessing yourself or the path you’re on. Frankly, “you stop giving a shit about what doesn’t matter” is what I heard. The second I turned 30, I waited for this aha moment. But it didn’t come quickly.

I’m someone fascinated by the idea of finding our “truest self.” I’ve always had a hard time letting go of my attachment to who I am, and embracing change. At some point this year I stopped fearing it or even forcing it. It wasn’t deliberate. In fact I don’t remember it happening at all. But today I finally understand what people mean. And it feels really good.

22 miles, 6,145 ft climbed, 14,505 ft summit, 30lb pack, the highest mountain of contiguous United States. Climbing this mountain was a huge moment of realization for me. I learned that limiting beliefs are a waste of energy, and that dopamine feels much better when it’s earned. I learned that pushing ourselves is the fastest way to re-connect to the core of who you are. Off the grid, no cell service, in the back country, completely reliant on yourself - there is no other option but to keep going and trust your physical and mental strength.

I’m so proud of my inner voice that never quits. I was raised to ‘just do it’ and summiting this mountain, (and hiking 3am - 7pm the final day 😅) proved just how literal I take that.

I’m so grateful to have accomplished this alongside my husband, my kindred spirit. Who was my rock and I at times, his. We did it together, truly hand in hand. Doing hard things brings you so much closer to the person going through the mud with you.

Since the climb, I’ve been thinking a lot about how hard it is to process something when you’re in it. The views, the emotions, or having the ability to fully absorb the moment, and feel it seep into your bones. But maybe that’s just what it means to be truly present.

Something about this happening my final days of 30 felt right. Fully stepping into who I am becoming and also appreciating who I’ve always been. Fearless ❤️
