Every mother is also a daughter carrying the weight of her own childhood.

Some of us are raising children while reparenting ourselves learning to love differently, communicate differently, and break cycles we didn’t create. Motherhood isn’t just about raising the next generation. Sometimes it’s about healing the little girl who came before her to soon..

Loving my kids through my pain actually helped heal me. There were moments I was still learning how to love myself, while teaching them what love looked like. I had to break cycles I didn’t create and give them things I didn’t always receive. In the process of raising them, I was also raising a healed version of myself.

I don't expect people to do for me what I do for them, but don't mistake my understanding for permission to treat me like a piece of shit. I can accept that we won't always be able to show up for each other equally, but respect should NEVER be one-sided. 💯
