POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

posted this on a friday, only to realize shortly after that actually, everyone else does want to know what the truth is here, but I’m just gonna say that she can be a victim and a liar at the same time. and I do think she has mastered a level of peak white womanhood victimization that we likely won’t see again possibly ever. but maybe that warrants another conversation…?

anyway why won’t nathan fielder look at me like that. I guess that was the lingering truth I was really searching for by the end.

(potential spoiler ahead! ⬇️)

my mom also said women with big blue eyes like that have powers we cannot even fathom and you know what? maybe she’s right about that because that’s exactly how I feel about [spoiler]

like annie baker, I’m fighting the good fight girl, but if they’ve got a tote bag around their shoulder and an iced americano in their hand, there’s only so much I can do ‼️

on dad don’t read this, and why it could be called that or at least idk that’s my theory? or maybe just one of them 🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️

like obviously sad to think of anyone “lying” to their father, just so they can protect them from what they don’t know, but it’s also just like wow! you love that person so much, you’re willing to hide the most defining parts of yourself, just so you don’t hurt them in the process? that’s fcked and kinda beautiful too. totally messed up, and yet the intention of it can’t be ignored too.

but the play ultimately (I think!) lives in its truth. dads everywhere have to see this play, or at least they have the opportunity to. maybe it’s better for their daughters to be honest. maybe it alleviates the pressure. not only for them, but for us too.

does this make any sense cause I don’t want to read whatever I just wrote again (the only thing worse than your dad reading your work is you reading your own work)

We forgot to post our new ep last weekend. (Whoops.) Here she is. Listen at link in bio.

Sims & Scully are joined by dramaturg, cultural commentator, and TikToker Grace Walker (@gracewalkerrr) for a wide-ranging conversation that starts with the ongoing discourse around theater influencers, free tickets, and who’s actually telling the truth online—and whether any of that is the scummiest thing Broadway producers are doing anyway.

Connor battles the rain to catch @cumuloshow, Emily Batsford’s wordless puppet piece at Mitu 580 in Gowanus, in which a figure named Plum free-falls through a sky full of sentient clouds and monsters.

All three also caught End of Days by Nile Harris and Dyer Rhoades, a durational performance piece at the Whitney Biennial where a man is drilled out of a crate and delivers a monologue in Russian about a Birkin bag possibly made of human skin.

Finally, the group takes on @kenrextheplay at the Lucille Lortel—an Olivier-winning true crime solo piece.

Fair warning: the sound quality this episode is a little rough. We won’t be accepting any Oliviers for sound design anytime soon—but we promise we’re getting better. Thanks for growing with us!

calf scramble by the one and only @libborate is a stunning new play following five teenage girls who just want to be loved more than god (and who can blame them!). this @primarystages production is running through april 12 at @59e59 so don’t miss out!

and if you’re looking for a special discount, @primarystages is offering $25 tix with the promo code GRACE25 so….something to consider if you’re considering 👀

*some of them do not want to be loved more than god….but I would argue that like maybe they do. dramaturgically? very NUANCED so pls do NOT fight me in the comments! or do….any kind of engagement helps. pls clap. tysm.

am i too late (pls lie)

and if somebody is writing a sexual romp set in a cottage, preferably with a cast of professional athletes, PLS let me know and I will readjust my list accordingly. unfortunately, NPX’s search engine can only do so much! 🥵

happy reading! and let me know if there are any titles i might be missing? noises off i know, but that show is technically set on a stage so dramaturgically speaking…you can see where the problem lies. but open to any and all recommendations! (a little night music is not a play.)

wowowowow what a year !! somehow saw too much and like wally shawn says on gossip girl, not enough.

thankful for everyone who got me into a show this year and looking forward to being your resident plus one throughout the next ;)

also, “best” literally doesn’t mean anything. i mean congrats to everyone who made it onto this very important, culturally SIGNIFICANT list, but seriously it’s all about timing. just saying that because i usually hate to make lists like these and if you write a play, then you know that i’m already on your side (unless you’re a GUY! that’s GROSS!).

okay is that enough for the algorithm to boost my post now? okay great. tysm byeeeee!
