Here’s a Tigers Eye Micro Silverfish and a few of his lil buddies!

I love how tigers eye plays with the light - it’s fun to watch that banding glide across the stone as It moves around! I would love to try the same with star sapphire or ruby - now that would be insane!

I need little side projects to keep the creative fires burnin! This one came as a welcome distraction during a stressful time and I let myself get completely lost in it. It’s nice to work on larger objects as opposed to jewelry from time to time - the fingers appreciate the break and there’s no need for magnification 😂

I was pleased with how it turned out, I learned a lot and it inspired some cool new ideas! Speaking of new ideas - I’ve got an exciting update to share later this week! So stay tuned for that 🥂🫡

I think I’ve spent enough time fiddling with rocks to justify some proper lapidary equipment 😂

This one took me down a rabbit hole for sure - but the end result was so worth it! The Giant Koi has the most individual moving components of any fish I offer, so it can be a real challenge getting everything to fit together properly and articulate smoothly. But once you’ve nailed it the fish comes to life and I immediately forget about all the hassles along the way, it never gets old!

Here’s a little V2 Marlin with spiked body pins & fins, Chrysoprase eyes and a satin finish ✨

The Marlins have become my favorite model to make - there’s somthing so satisfying about the shape and proportions! They are a bit “pokey” and impractical but are just too cool not to include in the collection! I am working on some revisions for version 3 that will improve wearability and decrease the likely hood of catching or snagging on clothing! Fun things to come, stay tuned 🥂

Part 3/3 micro koi build

This was filmed a few months ago but I haven’t gotten around to posting it. Honestly, I figured that by now I would have long since completed the backlog of orders and be well into the next chapter - but here we are! We’re not out of the woods just yet, but I’m so close I can taste it!

I love making these little guys, and it’s rewarding to think of how many are “out and about” around the world with people who share that passion. I am so grateful for every customer who has patiently waited for their piece, and to those still waiting - it’s coming very soon!

Part 1/3 micro Koi build

I’ve been a bit short for words lately while I continue working through the backlog of articulating fish orders, and although I haven’t been posting - I’ve been stacking up videos and working on solutions! I don’t have all the answers yet, but I’ve got some solid ideas for how I’m going to right the ship!

I have 30 fish to go until I am working with a clean slate and can implement a new business model that will allow me to continue to grow!

Thank you for all the messages, ideas and kind words while I’ve been “offline” - and I apologize If I haven’t responded! I’ve had my blinders on working towards the light at the end of the tunnel and it warms my heart to finally be able say the I’m almost there!

Holy smokes it’s been a minute!

Ive been putting off posting videos until I found a solution to my problems. There’s a part of me that feels kinda dumb for not having closed the shop sooner. Its been my mission to keep it open, and I’ve been riding a razors edge the last several months trying to make that a reality. My default when times get tough is to withdraw and bury myself in the work - not only is that not sustainable, but it sucks the magic out of what I’m trying to do here.

There have been many factors contributing to the delays, i’ll go into greater detail in another video. But I can finally say the worst is behind me, and I am steadily moving through orders one by one. I don’t want to be the guy who comes on here and talks about how stressed he is every few months - and I’m aware that I’ve brought this on myself.

Im bubbling over with new ideas that will be on hold until I have shipped every outstanding order, so ive decided to close the store this coming Friday (December 12) until I’m back on top of it! When it returns, things will look different and I will be following a new sales model to avoid this happening again.

It’s still just me making the fish, but I have Eric helping with packing, shipping and emails so I can focus 100% on production - it’s actually his birthday this week! If you have any questions in general or about your order, the best way is to shoot us an email and we will get right back to you (info @ gradenthomas .com). It’s hard to explain how grateful I am for everyone’s understanding and support while I figure this out, it’s humbling. This was not part of the plan and I’m doing everything in my power to make it right! So thank you, and we got this!

It’s been a minute! I’ve been cruising in the shop all summer trying to get on top of things, and there is a light at the end of the tunnel! I assumed that by this point things would be running like a well oiled machine with all of the improvements I’ve been making around here. But it’s fascinating how you create new problems for yourself as you raise the bar! For the most part each fish takes me about as long as it did at the start, but they are tighter and better week over week! I’ve been trapped somewhere between my ambitions and skill set but have to accept that as part of growing by doing, and I’m really pleased with how far things have come in a relatively short time. Thank you to everyone who is patiently waiting on their orders - i am working as hard as i can to get them to you and cannot wait for you to have them 👊
