xmas eve, age three. oxford, massachusetts.

𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒘𝒂𝒓𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈: 𝑝𝑎𝑟𝑒𝑛𝑡 𝑙𝑜𝑠𝑠, 𝑔𝑟𝑖𝑒𝑓, 𝑠𝑒𝑎𝑠𝑜𝑛𝑎𝑙/ℎ𝑜𝑙𝑖𝑑𝑎𝑦 𝑠𝑎𝑑𝑠

the last “traditional” family christmas i experienced was in 2010, the last christmas my dad was alive.

christmas was his favorite holiday, and he would plan for months in advance. the christmas after he died, i went into his closet and found two wrapped blue tiffany boxes. earrings for my mom, a cuff for me. we cried together in his closet at how much we wished we could have known our last christmas together was going to be our last christmas together.

change often arrives suddenly and unexpectedly. we don’t always have time to prepare for it; and even if we do have time to prepare, things aren’t always guaranteed to turn out how we expect things to. be it 2020 or be it life.

too many of us have had to experience much loss this year, and so many have also experienced much joy as well. however your 2020 has turned out, however you are feeling this christmas day. i see you, hold space for you, and wish you a v happy christmas, and a joyous new year ☃️🧧 by @graindine

remember dining out with friends? me neither (;´༎ຶٹ༎ຶ`) but at least thanks to @instagram i can reminisce about times past. i am also thankful to @instagram for facilitating a lot of @jesyelyse and my friendship and relationship over the years. ✪ bookstagram made us but our bond will sustain us ✪ lmao luv u fren ฅ^•ﻌ•^ฅ
