George Rainsford steps into the role of Bertie — the man who would become King George VI — in The King’s Speech. At the heart of the story is a man under extraordinary pressure, trying to find the confidence to use his voice when the world is listening. As part of the production, we’re proud to be working with STAMMA UK to deepen our understanding of stammering and help ensure Bertie’s experience is approached with honesty, care and respect. A story not just about speech, but about courage, friendship and what it really means to be heard. by @grainsford

Thanks for having me back for a bit @bbccasualtyofficial. Wow. What a phenomenal double episode to celebrate 40 years. Was honoured to be a small part of it. Incredible achievements in all areas of production. 🥂 Just as a footnote, I watched with my two boys tonight. They were too young before, when I was in the show full time. But they LOVED them. Totally gripped throughout. So here’s to the next generation of Casualty fans! ✌🏼 #Casualty40 #Casualty #LifeBeginsAt40 📸 @alistairheap taken in BBC Roath Lock Studios by @grainsford

Happy 40th Birthday Casualty! 🎂 Having been involved in both the 30th and 35th Anniversary Specials (see last few pics), it was a no-brainer when I was asked to come back last December & join in on the 40th celebrations. It was the first time in 3.5 years I’d been back to the Roath Lock Studios in Cardiff and my first scene was a classic handover. Yikes! That recognisable panic of medical jargon! But within an hour, it was like I’d never left! So many familiar faces, particularly amongst the crew & background artists and the most lovely, warm welcome from the regulars. I’d missed the belly laughs and puerile chats between takes! A terrific nostalgic week, sharing the screen with the legend Derek Thompson (aka Charlie) and topped off with the annual Christmas party! In conversation with the producers we wanted to ensure that, though brief, it wasn’t just a cameo for Ethan. Life has carried on for him away from Holby and we were keen to continue to shine a light on living with Huntington’s Disease. As for the future, I’d like to think there are more stories to tell, but for now, thank you for all the (literally) thousands of comments! I hope you enjoy/ed the incredible & dramatic double episode, directed by the always-amazing @moviegoblin - available now on @bbciplayer Oh and any requests for personalised video shout-outs, birthday messages etc, I’m now on @cameo - link via my profile. @bbccasualtyofficial @hdauk #Casualty40 #Casualty #LifeBeginsAt40 taken in BBC Roath Lock Studios by @grainsford
