19 breweries. 20 beers. One of them is the only keg in Oregon. 🍺

The Fresh Hop Fiesta tap list is live 👀 Here’s what’s actually in the glass.

🫐 MOSAIC is Simcoe’s daughter, and both are pouring, so you can taste the family resemblance in one afternoon. Blueberry, tangerine, papaya, rose, bubblegum.

🌲 SIMCOE turns up in four of the twenty. Passionfruit, berry, bubblegum, pine.

🍊 CITRA is in another four. Grapefruit, melon, lime, gooseberry, passionfruit. One brewery froze the cones and shattered them into the tank within hours of picking.

🌿 STRATA is Oregon-bred, released 2018, and it’s the one hop here that’s genuinely better unkilned. Dank, tropical, grapefruit. One brewery went in at 16 lbs per barrel.

🥭 KRUSH spent 17 years in development and only came out in 2024. Orange, mixed berries, tropical fruit salad.

🍍 DOLCITA is newer still. Released 2025. Pineapple, peach, tangerine, orange creamsicle. A fresh hop version of it barely exists anywhere yet.

🌾 LÓRIEN came out of Indie Hops in 2021. Sweet hay, wildflower, citrus zest. Grown at Alluvial Farm just south of town and in the kettle in under 24 hours.

Also pouring: Amarillo, Centennial, Cascade, Chinook, Mt. Hood, Hallertau and Willamette.

Two worth knowing either way. @livinghausbeer named theirs Ms. Hover, after Ivy Hover at Coleman, who organises fresh hop season for half the breweries in this state.

And @bierlybrewing brought a gluten-free fresh hop rice lager, so if you’ve been skipping beer festivals, this one’s for you.

And the one keg. Fourcast IPA, from @stoupbrewing and @topplinggoliath, brewed with four Coleman varieties. Not a fresh hop, a West Coast IPA, and the only keg of it in the state.

Twenty beers. Six pours. You’re going to have to make some choices. (Or not 😏)

ConeFall of Waning Light — a 6.8% Fresh Hop IPA brewed with fresh Simcoe from Coleman Agriculture.

Dank. Resinous and Straight out of hop harvest and into the tank.

Most hops grown in the United States hail from Washington, Oregon and Idaho. For several months each year starting in late August, brewers travel to these areas filling their trucks with large bags of fresh hops to give their beer a seasonal zing.

The delicate flowers that give this relative of the marijuana plant its lovely flavors and aromas degrade quickly. Most beer is made with processed hops — pellets, oils, extracts — but right now taprooms in Clark County are filled with otherworldly brews that make the most of the harvest.

Hops harvest ends at the farms in September, but brewers will sell these special beers through October though they are limited runs — once they’re gone, they’re gone until next year.
