As Dolly said, a real good reason to get lost 💕🌽

In cooperation with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, Robinette’s Apple Haus & Winery created a Dolly-themed corn maze for this year’s season. With the heartbreaking news of her passing, the maze now carries an even deeper meaning; celebrating a woman whose imagination, generosity and joy touched so many lives.

A beautiful tribute to Dolly, and a reminder that her legacy will continue to inspire generations. 💗💐

After decades of dam controlled flow, the rapids that made the river so grand are being restored.

After months of talking about it, love seeing work in progress like this.

Literally thought my house was on fire this morning with the heavy smoke smell 😅

Air quality index in Grand Rapids is supposed to be like 500+? Apparently that’s bad.

Honestly, ours looks the best imo 👀

The famous design was created by American pop artist Robert Indiana in the 1960s, starting as a simple holiday card before becoming one of the most recognizable public art pieces in the world.

Today, versions of the sculpture can be found in cities like New York City, Tokyo, Jerusalem, Grand Rapids, and beyond.

Pretty cool that GR has a little piece of that global art history right downtown 💪🏽

West Michigan got hammered with severe thunderstorms that brought flash flooding, hail, but luckily no tornados 🙏🏽

Grand Rapids specifically got hit hard and had incredible sights of flooding across the city.

Entire streets were turning in rivers on Tuesday night.

Flash flooding breaks out all across Grand Rapids, including downtown, after Tuesday night’s thunderstorms that brought torrential downpours and hail.

Streets across the city and major highways were flooded throughout the night.

In a recent Mobile GR Committee meeting, Mayor David LaGrand shared his thoughts on how raising the cost of street parking from $2 to $6 an hour could help address Grand Rapids’ limited parking capacity while generating more funding for other local causes.

This comes as more large entertainment developments enter the city, putting additional pressure on already limited parking options for residents.

Raising street parking rates does not hurt out-of-towners coming in for a concert or event. It hurts locals who are trying to go out to dinner, hit the gym, or stop for a coffee.

Other than private parking garage owners and city officials who want more money to spend, who actually benefits from this?

To be clear, this is NOT an official proposal at this point. It is just an idea. But it is one worth paying attention to.

Local residents should be voicing concern, especially as Grand Rapids’ infrastructure and mobility have already been under pressure in recent years. This would effectively act as another tax on locals while discouraging downtown commerce. Why pay $6 an hour to park for dinner downtown when parking is free at chain restaurants in the suburbs?

In just the past few years alone, street parking enforcement hours have already been extended from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
