Help Our Fellow Suff Beat Cancer!Our beloved SUFFS tour drummer and dear friend Dan Santiago has been diagnosed with Stage 3 Synovial Sarcoma. It is an extremely rare form of soft tissue cancer, located deep in his foot, and it has eroded the bone, rendering Dan unable to work or walk properly for an extended period of time. At only 27, Dan’s life and career are just getting started, and we want to do everything we can to make sure he can focus on recovery without worrying about finances. To help with both the out-of-pocket expenses of Dan’s treatment, and the cost associated with his not being able to work until after October, we are looking to raise $30,000.If you have seen SUFFS, or listened to the Original Cast Recording, you know how pivotal the rhythm section is to the score. Dan is literally the beating heart of the SUFFS tour. He is also incredibly kind, funny, smart, and generous. Middle school was really, really hard for me, as it was for so many of us. The girls at my school were particularly sharp and pointy, and gaslighting was a daily occurrence. However, there was a girl who was always unfailingly kind to me, who never ignored me, or body-shamed me, or made me feel less than. We fell out of touch after Crossroads, and decades later we fell back in touch, and it was as though no time had passed. Another decade went by, and last night my dear @mamamerbear and her wonderful spouse @chrispegula came to see @suffsmusical at @tennesseepac. She remains one of the warmest souls on the planet. Thank you, Meredith and Chris. My heart is so very full by @grandygirl
