A tiny stage for something very big… ⚔️

A first glimpse inside Charlie Edwards’ studio as Die Walküre begins to take shape for Grange Park Opera’s 2027 season.

Alongside costume designer Gabrielle Dalton @gabzdalton , Charlie is already building the world of Wagner’s epic — quite literally — in miniature.

Sets, spaces, entrances, drama… all carefully imagined in this wonderfully intricate model before they make their way onto the Theatre in the Woods stage.

Consider this your very small sneak peek at a very large Die Walküre to come. ⚔️

ANNOUNCEMENT | We are very sad to bring the news that Christina Gascoigne died this morning at home in Richmond.🤍

There was a lovely atmosphere there - lots of people wandering in and out, potters walking through to the pottery, people sitting for a while. There was talk around her and music. Christina was always listening and absolutely there. She was reciting a scrap of German literature to someone two days ago.

She beamed when people she loved came in.

There was something wonderful to see her amidst all the people who have come together because of her and Bamber; all the connections they have made.

There was great gentleness and positivity around Christina. She was calm and lovely.

Without Christina and Bamber, we would not have our magnificent Surrey opera house.

We will all miss her.

A few weeks have passed since the final curtain fell on our 2026 season, but the memories remain as vivid as ever. 🎶✨️

What a remarkable summer it was.

From the spiritual world premiere of Krishna, to the emotional grandeur of Don Carlo, the epic beginning of Wagner's Ring Cycle with Das Rheingold, the sparkling comedy of Il Barbiere di Siviglia, and the exceptional artistry of A Night of Ballet. Wach production brought its own unforgettable moments to our stage.

To our extraordinary artists, musicians, chorus, creative teams, technicians, volunteers, members, patrons and audiences: thank you. Your passion, generosity and belief in live performance are what make Grange Park Opera so special.

As we look back on an unforgettable 2026, our eyes are already turning to next summer, when the journey continues with Die Walküre and another season of world-class opera in the Surrey Hills.

Until then, thank you for being part of the story. We can't wait to welcome you back. 🎶

The gold has been stolen… and the journey has begun. ⚒️✨

On Friday, we brought the curtain down on our final performance of Das Rheingold, marking the triumphant opening chapter of Grange Park Opera's first-ever complete staging of Wagner's Ring Cycle.

Over five unforgettable performances, audiences joined us as gods, giants, dwarves and Rhinemaidens came to life in Charles Edwards' spectacular new production, with the Orchestra of English National Opera @englishnationalopera conducted by Harry Sever @harrysever

To our extraordinary cast, orchestra, creative team, crew, front-of-house staff, volunteers and everyone who made this epic undertaking possible—thank you. And to our wonderful audiences, thank you for embarking on this adventure with us. 🤍

This may be the end of Das Rheingold, but it is only the beginning.

We look forward to welcoming you back next summer for Die Walküre, as the story of Der Ring des Nibelungen continues!
