Two years ago, @rockywalls, @zacharydowns, and I sat down and thought strategically about how to set up @12starsmedia so that our work wouldn’t depend on me being there. I knew I’d eventually be taking the next step in my own career, and I wanted the team ready to keep moving before I did. I’m still here, finishing out this chapter, and after almost 11 years, I wanted to do that well. Now I’m looking at what’s next. To the whole 12 Stars Media team - past and present, thank you. I’ll save the longer, sappier version of that for another post. 😁 I’ve spent the last decade at the intersection of documentary storytelling and strategic communication, most recently leading employee engagement, culture, and recruitment messaging for organizations in healthcare, technology, energy, and manufacturing. My background is in documentary filmmaking, but the work I care about most is the same wherever I find it: taking something complex or technical and finding the human truth inside it, the part that actually means something to the person hearing it. I’m looking for a full-time role in brand, creative, or communications leadership, wherever an organization needs someone to make the story land. Presented by @heartlandfilm, the Academy Award-qualifying Indy Shorts is recognized as one of the 20 best short film festivals in the world by MovieMaker Magazine. On The Stream is a short documentary about @al_white_70, an Indiana fly fisherman whose time on the river becomes a reflection on life. After a turbulent youth, Al finds peace in fly fishing and discovers that the water can be a place of healing. Big moment for On the Stream! We’re kicking off our festival run at the Mayfly Film Festival in New York on May 30. They have curated a lineup dedicated to stories of sustainability and our connection to the natural world. There’s something fitting about our film starting here. The mayfly is deeply connected to water quality. When they’re present, it means something is right. That’s what this film is about…paying attention and protecting what matters.
