Grant Fore is an MC coming out of Wisconsin with a heavy East Coast and early 2000s impact to his sound and lyrics. Blending his life with various cultures and sonic styles. Some I’m less into than others, but all is brought with passion. This is an album that may not be for everyone, but it’s one I liked a lot!
.
NORTHBOUND & DOWN, HYPNOTIC TRAIN & 5055 MANIA are all solid songs to start the album. 5055 MANIA is the most out of the box of the three but has some great reference, just like the entire album does. CON SAZÓN SIN RAZÓN is a song with a Hispanic twist to the beat and lyrically. Bringing a twang to the beat and the first verse and hook are both in Spanish from Grant Fore, before he spits a dope verse in English to finish it off. DRUNK DROWNING IN THE DEEP END is a song that gets outside of Hip-Hop, which I don’t really mind, but it got into an early 2000s emo/rock type of sound. A style I’ve never been into honestly.
.
The second half of the album hits a bit more consistency from FULL METAL SOULBLAZE onward. With HIGHWAY TO HELL’S KITCHEN being the only song I wasn’t fully into, although it wasn’t on the level of DROWNING IN THE DEEP END. Like I said, there’s tons of references, as you’d expect from songs with titles like GO GO GADGET GET OUT THE WAY. CLEARHEADED CONTRA was one of the standout songs of the album, with a robbery scenario playing out.
.
I-43 SOUTHBOUND is an album that pushes the boundaries and limits of what Hip-Hop can be at times and even breaking out beyond the genre. And I like that. Even if not all of it was for me. I believe that most people that give this album a chance will find something within it they like, if not the whole thing!
