Your brand should feel like one business.

Your website, social media, signage, space, and visual identity should all feel connected.

When those things are created at different times or without a clear direction, the brand starts to feel disconnected.

That’s where clarity matters.

Before making more things, step back and define who the brand is, who it’s for, and where it’s going.

Once that is clear, every part of the brand has something to follow.

Before deciding what your brand should look like, you need to understand what it actually is.

Who are you?

Who are you trying to reach?

Why does the business exist?

How should you communicate?

These answers give the brand direction.

They help shape the visual identity, the messaging, and eventually the content you create.

Without that clarity, it’s easy to make decisions based on taste, trends, or whatever feels right in the moment.

Clarity gives those decisions a reason.

Best Metal felt unseen in the market.

During our workshop, we stepped back and looked at what actually made the business different.

One thing became clear:

They specialize in metal roofing.

That gave us a much stronger direction.

I was able to help them clarify what they wanted to be known for, how they should communicate it, and how the brand should present itself visually.

From there, the messaging became sharper.

The visual identity had a reason behind it.

And the brand could finally communicate what made Best Metal worth paying attention to.

Clarity gave the brand a direction.

How can you take your business and turn it into a recognizable brand?

1 - Have a clear understanding of why your business exists, who your ideal customers are and what makes you different.

2 - Getting clear on your communication. This includes the messaging, the visuals and the way you show up.

3 - Being consistent. This is easier said than done. Make sure whatever is being heard and seen by the customer is always consistent. This takes time. Be willing to put in the work and wait to see the results.

Were you able to guess the brands correctly?
If you want to make your brand equally recognizable without depending on a logo, then you must have a visual language that is consistent.
That way everyone can immediately associate it with your brand.

Are you overcompensating in your brand?

Stop making your logo larger to fill in space.
Think of it like you introducing your name.

Don’t yell it. It’s obnoxious. taken in Los Angeles, California by @grantedesigns

Get a clear understanding of what makes you different from your competitors.

That way you’re not just attracting the price shoppers. You’re actually communicating your values and speaking directly to your ideal customer.

Scales and gavels have been used in law firm logos forever.

They communicate “law,” but they usually don’t communicate anything about the actual firm.

The type of cases you take, the way you represent clients, your reputation, your personality, and what you want people to feel when they see your name can all become stronger starting points.
