I know I’ve been posting a lot about this band I’m in, but in this weird liminal phase after college, it’s been one of the most enriching elements of my life to give myself to a thing like this, to place passion and energy into a project that’s bigger than just me. Since I was a little kid, I have always dreamed of going on “tour” with a rock band. I don’t know that I really knew the ramifications of what that meant or what it would look like, but a few years later, here I am: about to embark on a stretch of six shows around the Midwest to support a brand new album with some of my best friends! (@michaelshermandrums @carter_the_fella @julies_bones !!) These shows can’t happen without an audience, so if you’re in one of these towns and maybe we’ve spoken recently or haven’t spoken for a while, we’d love to play some songs for you at these shows. I’d love to chat and say hello and catch up. I’d love to show you the vessel where I’ve been placing so much of my heart. Thank you to everyone who’s been a part of fostering and encouraging this music thing and everyone who’s taught me to be an artist in specific and everyday ways: that’s you! It’s been a busy summer with lots of music! I’m so happy that @carter_the_fella and I can play another hometown show this weekend, July 20th, in Chicago @stage773, and we’re dragging the Detroiter behind the kit @michaelshermandrums along with us. If you know me, you know there few greater joys in my life than playing little emo ditties with the @mannequins.official - @carter_the_fella and @michaelshermandrums We are playing one of our biggest shows of the year coming up: April 5th @parktheatreholland with some of my best friends @flostate.in and @thesmothersband and it would mean the world to me if you came out to hear us play… we’ll be unveiling some brand new songs and also playing the hits in one of the best rooms for live music, this side of Michigan. “Isn’t it Great to be Alive?…” I feel a massive and not completely articulable gratefulness to everyone who came out to see my final turn on the Hope College stage this weekend in Thom Pain (based on nothing) by Will Eno. Thanks for giving me, and Thom, 80 or so minutes of your time. I cannot express how lucky I feel to have been able to produce this play with my friends and play this character, backed by Hope’s theatre department. An insanely large thank you to: @bri.tomczak for her patient, gentle, and curious direction, friendship, and co-producing powers. @annabanana_0316 for her masterful stage management and wonderful presence in rehearsals. @alegriaaguzman for costuming me in the perfect suit to move, feel and be Thom Pain. @avatheresebell for making sure the audience could see me (and not see me) in beautiful ways that brought the story to life. 📸: @avatheresebell by @grantisntthere

The pure joy, passion, and love I have felt this past semester studying at the Gaiety School of Acting in Dublin with some of the most transcendently wonderful people ever, simply cannot be put into words.
