Another birthday, another September 9th has rolled around and I’m so lucky to be joined by my family here in Japan to celebrate. 🇯🇵 my concept of time is all over the place, moments I looked back on feel like they happened years ago… but…

31 was getting married to the love of my life.

Moving back to Japan as an Artist. The move felt a bit more permanent than when we were here on a working holiday.

Swimming to a sandbank in the middle of the ocean in Ishigaki and watching seagulls fly circles around me.

Chosen family vacation in Okinawa with @kimikofujiwara

Seeing this live of @ichikoaoba in Ishigaki, the inspiration for her album, was so special.

Moved @commedaigarcon to Tokyo as well. He became obsessed with Japanese food and will not stop begging us for more treats.

Finally mastered enough Japanese to be able to lead productions in Japan fairly stress free. This one with @anielka.shop was so special and I got to do it with my friends 🥹❣️

@photomyles came to visit me and we discovered an alternative Mount Fuji x Lawson viewpoint 😂

Marched Pride in Japan with my friends and got featured in @voguejapan (ありがとう @shiori0ta!)

@jonathanmrae and I finally made this two day shoot in Hayama happen. Managing a production this big really pushed my 日本語 while also directing and doing cinematography. Left feeling really proud of our efforts.

Chased cherry blossoms all over Japan.

Saw some incredible cherry blossoms that I’ll never forget 🥹

Spent the summer in Zurich. Discovered I can still do front and backflips.

Always wanted to come to Lauterbrunnen, the inspiration for Rivendell in Lord of the Rings. Was about to give it all up for the life of a sword and a cloak.

Paris was HOT 🔥 we lived through an endless heatwave and I really learnt my limits when it comes to heat

Still had time to make it back to Australia to make some magic with @jheuston

Directed my first Japanese commercial. Reunited with @ryo.mov DP!

Tokyo Nightfall premiered at @raindancefilmfestival - finally got to see it for the first time in Tokyo. taken in Tokyo, Japan by @grantjw

Punk rebellion collides with nomadic soul in ALTNYAI’s genderless collection—where raw edges meet ancestral roots. Designer Altynai Sawada (Esmod Tokyo) weaves her Kyrgyz heritage through hand-embroidery, leather remnants, eco-fur, and even her own hair, forging a tactile rebellion that’s as intimate as it is defiant. Traditional motifs echo through bold accessories, while denim and food waste transform into something strikingly new. It’s witchcraft meets wasteland—with heritage stitched into every seam.
