read the flowchart. we’ve all been there.

sick judo throw → ig highlight
failed judo throw → bottom mount → you know the rest

we wore our game plan to jiu jitsu con and ibjjf master worlds in vegas and spent the weekend getting stopped by strangers asking to photograph our backs. thanks to everyone who said hi 🤙

would you wear one? comment “shirt” and if enough of you want one, we can make it happen.

tag the training partner whose game plan this is 👇

grapple flows is a free app for mapping your game as flowcharts. ideally ones that don’t end in bottom mount. link in bio.

Duyên Phạm walked into her first Jiu Jitsu Con with the whole match planned: pull guard, technical stand-up, takedown, crazy dog pass, side control, mount, belly-down armbar.

Her mentors had her swap the arm weave for the crazy dog pass. She ran the chain start to finish and took 3rd in her division. White belt, 4th competition. Congratulations on your accomplishment!

Five days at Jiu-Jitsu Con and World Master. These are the four people we came back thinking about, all of whom have found their own way of turning jiu-jitsu into a system.

Will Weisser has been training since 2001 and wrote Scientific Jiu-Jitsu, which builds the whole sport out from one principle, increasing relative strength, through force, alignment and misdirection. He co-built jiujitsu.net on top of that.

Beatrice Jin is an IBJJF American National champion who reached black belt inside six years, and she is the person behind the whiteboard reels most of us have saved at some point.

Joao Miyao is a World champion, a four-time No-Gi World champion and a five-time Pan champion, and one of the people who took the berimbolo and made it into an entire system of the game.

Zoe Chan took purple belt light feather gold at World Master for CheckMat Fight Zone London, off the back of a year that also included gold in South America.

None of them would describe what they do in the same words. All of them are doing a version of the same thing: turning a pile of ideas into something with a shape.

last year’s bay area unite was one of the best open mats of the year. people from gyms all over the bay, no politics, just good rounds.

so when we heard @thekoffeekrew was putting it on again, sponsoring was an easy call.

it’s the kind of event that just makes the bjj scene here better: free, community-run, one day where everyone trains together.

if you’re around, go. roll with someone you’ve never met. definitely worth the early alarm.

what started as me trying to make sense of my own training ended up becoming a product

i’ve always liked systems, patterns, and finding cleaner ways to organise messy information
and jiu-jitsu gives you a lot of messy information

too much content
too many ideas
too many things that feel useful in the moment and disappear a week later

i wanted a way to study that felt less like hoarding information and more like building understanding
something visual, connected, and easier to come back to

so i built it

if your brain likes structure, and your jiu-jitsu notes are currently less “study system” and more digital landfill, you’ll probably enjoy this

you learned a new sequence in class.
you drilled it.
you nearly had it.

then it disappeared into the same place everything else goes:
saved reels
notes apps
random tabs

grapple flows gives your jiu-jitsu knowledge a home.

free to use. link in bio.
