In a world of beset by flesh-eating vampires, a soldier must return to her home shrine and attempt to save what’s left of her family and their magic…

My thesis film The Soldier’s Shaman has been fully completed at this time- what an insane journey making this film has been!!
It will be screening in MAY 8th at the SVA Theatre in NYC (open to the public) and streamed on Twitch at the @svabfaanimation Twitch channel!! Please tune in and look forward to its premiere!!

The incredible score was done by the ultra talented @taegwoo, and the soundtrack is available to stream RIGHT NOW!! Check out the linked reel for behind the scenes!

Happy #portfolioday! Excited to show off the action bit of a 2:40 min sequence I just finished (full version on my website!) 👀

Minha (in blue) stumbles upon Hwan (in yellow) who’s a Shaman lost in the woods, separated from his aunt. Little do they know Hwan is a young, terrified vampire and conflict soon arises. This is an original story based in ancient Korea!

I have a whole ~30 seconds more I have planned, but as of right now I’m pretty proud of how much my boarding has evolved- even if I still have ALOT to learn!
I did this alongside @danielmaraya’s 9 week storyboarding course and I learned SO SO MUCH. This sequence went through many MANY iterations!

Thank you so much to Danny and also @servankenyu for all of the knowledge and guidance, I truly can’t wait to board more and flex the things I’ve learned!!

The animation process on my Korean fantasy thesis film, The Soldier’s Shaman!

Still trying to find the best way to display the animation process, I re-edited this 3 times as I played around with the editing LOL!
Also trying to figure out how much to show before the film releases…I only have so much footage you guys…

In the meantime:

August 2026 festival update for The Soldier’s Shaman, my Korean-fantasy thesis film! To celebrate the first laurels for the film I thought I’d share the opening sequence 😌🙏🏼

Honored to have been recognized as:
Best Super Short at the East Village Film Festival
Finalist for Best Short Film at @followheart_fest
Finalist for Rookie of the Year for @therookiesco (onto the next round of judging! 👀)

Storyboard warmup dump from April/May!
In an attempt to draw humans doing supernatural things I looked to extreme sports/olympians for reference and MAN some of the things the human body does in slomo is fascinating.
Also been really into watching artists perform on stage, living vicariously through them (being the center of attention is my worst nightmare) brownie points if you can recognize the figures 😋!

Idrk what’s the best thing to post atm LOL postgrad has me feelin a lot of ways, trying to not forget to post tho!

I GRADUATED!?!!!

Super late post but I still haven’t processed that my time at SVA is over, I think it’ll take a long time for it to sink in LOL

@ all everyone I met at SVA, wether we spoke once or spoke everyday, please know you made it all worth it- our art, our perseverance, our support for each other has made the past 4 years the best and most adventurous to date. ILY!! We did that shit 💖

My thesis ‘The Soldier’s Shaman’ is premiering TOMORROW, 5/8 at the SVA Thesis Screening, come in person at the SVA Theatre OR tune in on @svabfaanimation’s Twitch or YouTube!! (LINK IN BIO)
Doors at 11am, screening starts at 12! My film is screening in the 3rd section ‘Movement Therapy’ at 3:45pm!!

Last year, I kept coming back to what my dream project would be. As a Korean composer with an unhealthy obsession with fantasy music, it naturally had to be a fusion of Gugak(Korean traditional music) and Fantasy. Somehow the stars aligned and I got in touch with @grasshaha , who was looking for a composer for her Korean fantasy animation.

Japanese and Chinese music are so well represented in media but when it comes to Korean music, all people can think about is Kpop. It was imperative to me that I write something that is distinctively Korean without being mistaken for other asian cultures. Through this process I managed to learn a lot about my own cultural music. I even picked up a Geomungo(Black Crane Zither) and started learning it along the way. But most importantly I got to work with incredible Korean musicians who brought exactly what I was looking for.

Special thank you to @pansori_into for sharing your incredible voice, artistry, and deep knowledge of Gugak. Your Pansori sound was key in bringing Korea to this project.
@john_taewookie , your Daegeum, Sogeum, and Taepyeongso performances brought such raw soul and authenticity. It was pure delight listening to you play.
@ben_sedano_tinydog , thank you for your incredible mix and master. It was an honour finally working with you. You really took this piece to another level and gave it the power and energy it needed.

Finally, thank you Grace for trusting me with your film. Keep an eye out for The Soldier’s Shaman this May.

The crimson hands of my father…

Frankenstein was absolutely incredible- the story and themes of the book have always resonated with me and it was SO cool to see this iconic story on screen in all of its bloody, emotional, tragic glory. Kudos to Guillermo for making so beautiful and whimsical while still haunting, the film is so inspiring in every way!!
Frankenstein and Occtis from Critical Role (iykyk) have catapulted me into a gothic mood despite it being the holiday season lol so needless to say I’ve borrowed lots of gothic books from the library 🤓

My Junior film “Just Last Week” is premiere tomorrow at the SVA Undies!! :)
A simple but very personal story about friendship, aromanticism, how life goes.

It’s pretty different from my usual style of filmmaking, but I’ve come to grow fond of it! Conceived, produced, and finished from September - December of 2024, another huge priority of the project was trying to make something that I could start and finish in one semester. Proud to say I was able to accomplish that, and while it’s a bit rough around the edges I learned a lot about smaller scale storytelling and economic workflows! I’ll try to remember to post about it- tune into the SVA Undies 10/31 on @svabfaanimation’s Twitch channel at 12PM EST!
