Well, I’m at it again. Sourdough. The bread that can either break a woman’s heart or make her skip around the house with glee. This is my first loaf in about 3 or 4 years. I’m pleased with the turnout. I’d like it to be a tad less hard when I cut into the crust, but overall, not bad. Because I accidentally fed my starter too much yesterday, I’m in the process of making another loaf today. Bake day #2 will be tomorrow, so we’ll see how it compares. Who else is on this journey? #sourdough by @gratefulkim

New obsession unlocked.

I found an artist on IG whose cute little piggies inspired me to make my own. So, naturally I ran to the art store and got watercolor paints, paint brushes, and paper. On this chill Sunday morning, I sat down and played with paint, just messing around with color, shapes etc. This will be the art breaks for the upcoming week and I’m excited to let the ideas flow. I am not an artist, but I like to pretend that I am. 🎨👩🏼‍🎨🖌️🫟🖼️ Thank you to @art.by.samjohnson for the inspiration. 🐷💖 by @gratefulkim

They (whoever “they” actually are) say that you should have little bits of joy waiting for you at all times to keep life joyful, whimsical and fun.

For me, it was a pumpkin.

I bought this little thing back in July at Hobby Lobby and it sat around for two months in a bag in my spare bedroom. One day I decided to get started painting. I set up a little paint station at my kitchen table and took tiny art breaks during the day to paint for a few minutes. Some evenings I would work on it for longer periods of time. I finished it just in time for October 1st. Is it the prettiest, most professionally painted pumpkin I’ve ever seen? Not by a long shot. But the process offered me moments of creativity and fun, and now I have a little hand-painted pumpkin to zhuzh up the house for fall. As of yesterday, I have some new supplies for some new creativity because I really liked the idea of “art breaks” throughout my crazy workdays. My sanity is everything.

Ben and I visited the Barn Buddies Rescue farm today and it was so fun….you get to feed the animals hay too. They also have a little farmer’s market (biggest sweet potatoes I’ve EVER seen!) where I walked away with two kinds of sourdough and some handmade soap. And then it rained on the drive home. Next Level Bachelorette party weekend in Scottsdale…….

To say my daughter, Samantha, planned this down to a tee is an understatement. Private chef the first night, magician, hibachi chef, desert four-wheeling, “green” dinner and plenty of fun, laughter and memories. My mother’s heart is overjoyed for her happiness. by @gratefulkim
