seventeen, the best number ever. seventeen students, the mozi team and me. forty three days together here in the country with the longest coastline on the continent. psalm one twenty six as the anthem in my heart

not captured much is the most beautiful moments we’ve had - face to face with the Mozambican people

thanks for your prayers, support, and love. the Lord is doing an incredible work one life at a time, in us, and in them. it’s a summer i’ll treasure for the rest of my life

the first manicure i’ve had overseas this year was by a man named Carlos for 100 mzn ($1.57) while we sat on the curb outside waiting for our turn in line at immigration. the students led him to the Lord and he exchanged bracelets from the witch doctor for one that says psalm 23 from a student, Will

on a market day the girls and I got some braids for fun. a man walked up and the girls led him to the Lord

on the students second of three expeditions to a remote village they gathered the leaders together for a final meeting. there was a delicious meal, prayer, singing, and the announcement to the village that Kohl & Katie and their three kids will be faithfully returning every week for the known future to continue discipling people who want to grow in the Lord. everyone celebrated. it was the launch of a dream fulfilled for the family, and an answer to prayer for the village

one life, one family, one village, one nation at a time

Jesus loves summertime, you, and the number seventeen too

one: soccer game sidelines with the gals

two: leaders meeting with the head teacher of the school, headmen of the village, pastors and others. some students preached and it was amazing to hear them encourage the leaders that true authority comes from the Lord and we are found holy and blameless in Him!

three: a beautiful family - a complete one! Boris & Valentine, their two sons and Boris’ brother all home together to receive the word of God, ask questions, share stories, and request further discipleship from Overland’s long term missionary in the area; Kebby! Their family was so externally expressive of the joy they had inside. They were all smiles and full of zeal for the things of God. We encouraged and equipped them to preach the gospel to their neighbors!

four: a young man let’s just call him “J”. I have been praying for him by his full name ever since we met. We talked most days the week we were there. One day I asked “J, who is Jesus to you?” “Oh Jesus?? Jesus is my best friend.” 🥹 Tears immediately filled my eyes. What a response. “Jesus is my best friend too. What does Jesus do for you?” - me. “He protects me, provides for me, blesses my families sleep, sends angels every night to our home. He’s been with me all my life.” His English was so good. He went on to share that he’s one of 4 people in his village with albinism. He loves to watch his friends play soccer but can’t himself bc of his eyesight. We blessed him with a new hat and sunscreen. Rejoicing in knowing He already has the greatest comfort - Jesus Christ as his best friend forever.

five thru nine: kids ministry games

ten: mcing a night meeting! we invite the village to join us around a campfire where we sing fun songs in the local language, worship songs, share testimonies, preach the gospel, and offer to lay hands and pray for everyone at the end

eleven: traditional meal of nshima, greens, and chicken

twelve: Kati & Trent Pedersen - fearless leaders n lovebirds taken in Mulobezi by @gratefullygreta

“yes but we don’t know where he lives” - a little girls answer when asked “do you know Jesus?” on an expedition to Mulobezi, Zambia. He lives here in our hearts, and He’s alive in Heaven, reigning in majesty. Waiting for us to all be together forever again. What a privilege to tell the truth about king Jesus to the world!

We had the best time in Mulobezi in May. I was there with 1/3 of the AMT class of 44 students. We went from house to house preaching the gospel, had a memorable time of kids ministry at the village school, had a soccer game, night meetings, all of the usual wonderful elements of a great expedition.

My first ever Overland expedition was in this same chiefdom exactly 4 years before. Life with Christ just gets more fruitful and fun with every passing year!

in the Fall of 2023 an AMT student @mylespotgieter asked me if the final expedition could be to Itezhi Tezhi, Zambia. I kinda giggled at the name, never heard of her. He showed me where it was on the map of this massive country, explained how it’s set on the banks of the lake and people of many tribes live there together in the villages to fish. The students didn’t get to go that year, but Overland began ministry there (s/o ops and chaplaincy teams) instead and became friends with the Chief and his wife.

I got to go to Itezhi Tezhi and see what the Lord has been doing, meet the people of peace our team has befriended and jump in with them for 2.5 days. As always, the Lord moved in love and power. It was an honor getting to have dinner (not pictured) with the Chief and visit his home the next day and see him meet with people who came to seek his wisdom and help in decisions for themselves, their families, their land. Children and adults received salvation, freedom, deliverance, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit. Thank you Ian and Josh for having Lizelle and I join you out there when we did!

On the way home to Livingstone Lizelle, Humphrey (a Zambian ministry partner), and I saw a leopard cross the road!!! We did get hit by a truck of 4 Zambian guys (everyone is fine! praise!) on the way home. When the driver, Godfrey, got out of the truck he said “ah, no brakes. we lost our steering”. I got to tell him later on that I forgive him. The last photo is his daughter, Melissa, choosing to follow Jesus with Josh & Lizelle praying with her. Hallelujah. Salvation is the greatest miracle. I’m in the capital city, Lusaka, now to drop off my Land Cruiser for repairs

This post is to brag on God for all He’s doing in Itezhi Tezhi, rejoice that I got to go, highlight happy moments of ministry with Ian and friends, and update my faithful supporters and prayer warriors of this event. So thankful for you all. More than words can say.

Thank you @frojo85 for coming out to the bush as soon as you got the call and you fixed it enough to drive! You were Africa savvy enough to bring a friend, my insurance agent, and 2 police men from the local town with you. Genius. by @gratefullygreta

same photo, different men, different countries

going for a walk in the neighborhood smiling thinking about the one thing we all do have in common. all as in every human. we all share in the victory of that one human savior king of Nazareth who died and rose again. whether someone knows it or believes it yet. He died for us all. He rose for us all. He loves us all. Happy Easter! Let’s go tell the story of victory in Christ today. to ourselves, to our neighbors, to our children, to the nations
