Life will never be the same without my big brother.

On July 7th, my family received news that my brother collapsed at work and unexpectedly passed away. We don’t have any answers yet on how or why a healthy 24 year old can pass away so unexpectedly, but I’d like to believe it happened quick and painless.

To know me is to know Logan. Growing up, I always wanted to be just like him. I liked to steal his sense of humor, his music taste, and his favorite movies and shows. He unintentionally always knew the cool stuff before it was cool.

He was the best big brother. In high school, he drove me (along with any boys on the rugby team who needed a ride) home from school in our 2001 Chevy impala playing Kid Cudi, Mac miller, and Tyler the creator with the windows down. He would also correct me every time I pronounced Kid Cudi like “Kid Cootie”.

He was our gentle giant. He might have looked big and intimidating at first, but the moment he smiled, you knew you were safe. He had a way of making everyone feel seen and deeply loved.

It’s a shame I’ll never see him marry the love of his life, Haley, or become a father, but I know that a beautiful big soul like his only comes around so often.

I don’t think losing my big brother will ever feel real. I dread the year I turn older than him. I dread that my future husband and kids will never meet him. I dread living the rest of my life without him in it. But for now, I’m going to take things day by day and honor his silly, nerdy, sweet self.
