Happy 58th Birthday to Ralph Edward Tresvant.

Born May 16, 1968, He is a singer, songwriter, actor and record producer, best known as the lead singer of R&B group New Edition.

When he was in junior high school, some friends got the idea to put a group together, Tresvant and three others – Bobby Brown, Ricky Bell and Michael Bivins – started performing at local talent shows.

They were spotted by a local up-and-coming producer and songwriter, Brooke Payne, a local manager and choreographer, who encountered the boys at a local talent show in Roxbury. After an audition for Payne, he gave them the name New Edition to signify they were a new edition of the Jackson 5.

Maurice Starr, who wanted to create a “newer edition” of the pop act The Jackson 5, signed them to his independent Streetwise Records label and a fifth member, Ronnie DeVoe (Payne’s nephew), was added to the group. Releasing their debut album, Candy Girl, in 1983. The album was a successful launching pad for the group, spawning the teen-oriented hit singles “Popcorn Love,” “Is This the End” and the title track. #happybirthday #happy #birthday #newedition #fblifestyle by @graykevin

🚨 BREAKING NEWS 🚨

Oliver “Power” Grant, influential executive and architect behind the rise of the legendary Wu-Tang Clan, has passed away at 52. 💔🕊️

Power was not just affiliated with the Clan — he helped build the infrastructure. From financing early sessions to executive producing projects and launching Wu-Wear, he helped turn Staten Island’s raw hunger into a global brand.

He believed in the vision before the world did.
He invested when it wasn’t safe.
He stood ten toes when the industry doubted.

Wu-Tang wasn’t just music. It was business. It was fashion. It was ownership. And Power was central to that blueprint.

Rest in Power. 👐🏾

REMEMBERING ON THIS DAY 🕊️
Antoine “T.C.D.” Lundy (1963–1998)

On this day, January 18, we remember Antoine “T.C.D.” Lundy — the velvet-voiced heart of the Force MDs — taken far too soon at just 34 years old.

Born February 3, 1963, on Staten Island, T.C.D. wasn’t just a singer. He was a bridge. A sound. A moment in Black music when doo-wop soul shook hands with hip-hop street energy and created something brand new.

Before the records, before Tommy Boy, before the gold plaques — there were ferry rides. Street corners. Times Square sidewalks.
T.C.D. formed the group in 1981 with his brothers Stevie D. and Khalil Lundy, and their uncle Jessie Lee Daniels. They called themselves The L.D.s and sang for whoever would stop and listen. Harmonies bouncing off brick walls. Dreams carried on Staten Island wind.

When they became the Force MDs — “MD” for Musical Diversity — history quietly shifted.
They were among the first to lace silky harmonies over hip-hop beats and beatboxing. That fusion didn’t just work — it opened the door for New Jack Swing and the entire R&B-rap era that followed.

And then came “Tender Love.”
A quiet storm classic. A cultural reset. A love song so soft it still echoes.
T.C.D.’s voice didn’t perform that record. It confessed it.

He carried that same emotional gravity into hits like “Love Is a House,” the group’s first No. 1 R&B record in 1987.
Every note felt like it came from the chest, not the throat.

But while the world heard velvet, his body was fighting a silent war.

T.C.D. spent two years battling ALS — Lou Gehrig’s Disease — a cruel illness that slowly shut down his body while his spirit stayed alive.
On January 18, 1998, he passed away at just 34 years old.

No scandals.
No chaos.
Just a gifted Black man, a pioneer, and a beautiful voice leaving too early.

Today, when you hear harmonies riding hip-hop drums…
when R&B crooners lean into rap rhythms…
when love songs feel street and soft at the same time…

That’s T.C.D.’s fingerprint still on the culture.

Rest easy, king.
Your voice is still working overtime.
