My 28th birthday plays in my mind like a supercut.

💌 There’s a small city in Samar called Calbayog where my parents were born and raised one street and 5 years apart.

In a slightly bigger city in Leyte, called Tacloban, I was born. And a short while later, God met them through a faithful servant who shared the gospel.

That encounter and that small act of faith would lead to Harani 28 years later.

love this so much because i was so intentional with choosing even the flowers despite the motion blur.

Purple Asters are the flower for September. They are associated to mean wisdom and remembrance while orange tulips mean enthusiasm and new beginnings.

And to me the nearness of God represents new beginnings. His mercies are new every morning and His word is a lamp unto our feet—The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding. His praise endures forever! (Psalm 110:10)

Why it’s called “Harani” 💌
Blessed to have been raised by parents who love the Lord.

Harani means near.

God was near my parents in obscure city provinces not many people venture to and He is near to me in every season. What a gift it is to have a story orchestrated by the One who holds the universe in His hand.

The set list came to me through my life verses (you’ll see them smattered around the next few photos).

Praise, Peace, Proclamation, and Presence — the essence of not only Harani, but my whole life.

in photo: my mom arranged this herself. she and my dad knocked on my door at midnight to gift this to me and it became the centerpiece of the “stage” 🥹

Psalm 8:3-5 became my “first” life verse the minute I read it. As someone who always felt overlooked, God spoke to me through this verse back when I was 17. I am loved and chosen by the God of angel armies.

This Psalm became the anthem of my mid-twenties.
My favorite line in the hymn “Be Thou My Vision” is this:
“Thou my best thought by day or by night”
I am not sure why some days my sadness comes like a wave you cannot surface from, but there was a time my head was more underwater that it was out of it. God, who is always on time, showed me this verse one night by @great.is

Happy Father’s Day to the best One out there!
Everything in this world may steal, kill, and destroy, but my Abba saves, brings me peace, protects me, and is with me in every season. Praise God for His perfect love, His goodness, and His protection. I could sing of God’s love forever. by @great.is

It amazes me how destructive impatience can actually be. I used to wonder why patience was not just a virtue, but also a fruit of the Spirit. God knows us well—every disdainful cry at being made to wait for something we think is unnecessary or “not that bad,” every anxious thought that scares us away from what is good for us, and every moment of mourning where our minds beg us to cope with what’s immediate or simply go numb from it all.

But God promises to care for us, keep us, and listen to us in every moment we feel alone and tired in the waiting.

So whatever corner you’re curled up in, whatever position you’ve found yourself praying from, better is one day in His courts than thousands elsewhere.

Sometimes we find ourselves wanting to rush through difficult seasons. Maybe because you think “I just need to get through this, something good is waiting at the end” or oftentimes it’s because it’s an endless cycle of brokenness. Here’s what’s amazing, though: there’s no waste at the altar.
From broken dreams to victories no season is wasted in the hands of God. All we have to do is trust and obey.

Change and uncomfortable situations will always be part of mortal life.

And while I’ve always found it amazing that salvation can be offered even at the very last breath of someone’s life, there is so much joy in getting to live every day expectant of the will of God—leaning not on my own understanding, and trusting that even when I cannot see it yet, He is working.

And it is always, always, always worth the wait to witness His goodness. by @great.is

A love note for when all things are wearisome—

Journeying through the book of Ecclesiastes and it’s so interesting to me how this book was written during a time of prosperity for Israel. “All is vanity? What advantage does a person have in all his work which he does under the sun?”

But if we fix our eyes on who God is, what He has done, and what He is going to do, then we’ve done all we need to do.

Trust that God is good, and trust that he is trustworthy when you go through seasons where you feel that “all is vanity and all is wearisome.”
