Congratulations to my buyers and their horses who will now live in this spectacular home on Vail Lane in North Salem, NY. We searched high and low to find this place and when we found it, moved quick to secure the deal. Thank you to everyone involved especially the inspectors who inspected the home the same day we got the accepted offer and the listing agent Carol Goldberg who is incredibly fantastic.

I’ve lived in Katonah and spent my weekends riding horses through North Salem — and I can tell you firsthand, there’s nowhere quite like Northern Westchester.

If you’re a New Yorker who’s started wondering whether there’s more to life than a cramped apartment and no outdoor space… you’re not imagining it. There is.

Northern Westchester gives you the gorgeous retreat you’ve been dreaming about — scenic views, real yards, charming towns — without cutting you off from the city you’ve built your career in. The Metro-North commute is real, the grocery stores are close, the town centers are walkable and full of life, and yes — in some areas, you can absolutely have chickens.

I work with a lot of young couples making the move from NYC, usually in the 1-2M+ range, and the questions are almost always the same: How far am I from town? What’s the commute actually like? Is this the kind of place where we can finally put down roots?

The answer, almost every time, is yes.

The suburbs will surprise you ✨

Some cities have beautiful homes. The NYC suburbs has entire towns of them.

Katonah Village where train access has never been closer and the 1900’s Victorians still have their original detail, gables, and timbered frames after being moved by horse to avoid the flooding of the NYC water reservoirs.

Bedford where the lots run over 4 acres, the driveways disappear into the trees, and the old estates have been brought into modern times.

Pound Ridge where the historic farmhouses and mid century moderns come together among a wooded backdrop to create an legendary artistic community.

And out toward North Salem, where you’ve got rolling horse farms, grand estates, seemingly endless open land yet still just 1.5 hours from NYC

The homes here were built to last generations, and most of them have been kept that way.

If you’re considering a move to the NYC suburbs, the houses are the part nobody prepares you for.

so much to do, so much to see…🍂

Everyone’s back from their euro summers, the kids are back in school, @lmnopbakery is back from summer break, the leaves are *just* starting to turn and the air is ever so crisp yet we still get to enjoy @jjhfarmmarket and @northsalemnyfarmersmarket for a few more cherished weeks.

This happens to be one of my favorite times in the Northern Westchester and Fairfield County Real Estate Market, and not just for the foliage views. Between Labor Day and Thanksgiving some *really* quality homes tend to come on the market, think peaceful retreat and insane views sort of vibe.

just like that! ✨

Just imagine waking up to having coffee on the porch, meeting the neighborhood dogs as they walk by or maybe you become a local at your new coffee shop, perhaps an early morning ride out on the trails or a hike out in the woods to listen for the birds. These are the mornings that we live for in Northern Westchester.

This is the reality or soon to be reality of so many of my clients this year as we close or prepare to close on their new homes. Their journey’s have been varied, some more akin to The Odyssey than a home search, other deals have been made in under 48 hours. All have had the same result: A truly great home in a wonderful location in Northern Westchester (and even a couple across the border in Connecticut !)

Honestly, I have been blessed this year with clients I just enjoy SO much - like every single one - truly I don’t know how I get so lucky. Every single one of their home searches could have continued on for years and I wouldn’t have complained. And some came from right here on Instagram- which is mindblowing!

@caramoor grounds + walking paths in nearby @katonahdaily that feel like a secret escape.

@bedfordgourmet the OG market for prepared food in Bedford, never misses.

@southsalemwinery + @gardensidekitchen right on 35 in South Salem, amazing pastries and New York wine… what more could anyone ask for?

@farmers_grind a cute cute cute coffee shop in Vista with the best sandwiches.
