Our First Grade Friends have been learning about animals and their traits.

They’ve been gathering evidence that animal offspring look like, but not exactly like, their parents.

Most recently, our first graders examined how an animal parent helps their offspring survive, including protecting them from predators and by feeding them.

With gorgeous weather and nature on their minds, first grade took their science “hats” of wonder and curiosity to the Tree Lab for their Life Skills lesson! In partnerships they brainstormed and explored what fills their emotional bucket and what dips into their emotional bucket.

Go first graders! Go! You are capable of amazing things! ✨

Our 8th graders are currently flexing their Algebra 1 skills!

Through our Illustrative Math curriculum our GSFS Scholars are building a strong foundation in algebraic thinking, problem-solving, and mathematical reasoning! 💡

They’ve been working collaboratively to create tables, graphs and equations that represent linear patterns in real world contexts! 📈

Go 8th graders! Go! You’re on your way to being high school ready! ✨

Join us on October 15th for a chance to step inside our GSFS school community! You will meet the people who make it special and see how we create a space where every child is seen, known, supported, and celebrated!

A space where children become world changers and seekers of knowledge, equity, and social justice. And! GSFS is more than just classrooms and curriculum. It’s relationships, belonging, and making sure every child knows that they matter here!

Yesterday we gathered together for our first all school assembly of the 26-27 school year. The rain held off and we were able to come together as a whole school community, meet our new faculty, and reflect on what it means to care for and support one another. Our Quaker focus for this year is COMMUNITY!

The day also coincided with September 11th. What a meaningful way to begin the year together; remembering that each of us has the power to help make our community a place where everyone feels seen, known, supported and cared for.

On this weekend honoring the 25th anniversary, our school community pauses to remember and hold in the Light those we lost while also celebrating the importance, strength and connection that continue to bring communities together.

Over the summer while *some* of our classrooms were quiet, our GSFS faculty and staff were busy making memories, learning, recharging, making a difference and reaching new goals! ☀️

Here’s to the adventures, accomplishments, and memories that made Summer 2026 one to remember!

Welcome back all! We’re ready for another amazing year!

This summer, GSFS did not put learning on pause! We welcomed back our Horizons cohorts and welcomed in our first Summer Friends campers! These young Scholars in both programs spent the last several weeks in joyful learning spaces to wonder, explore, create, experiment and grow together.
