Robbery Arrest

Yesterday, around 4:00 PM, Patrol officers responded to an armed robbery on the 1000 block of Walnut Avenue. Two males approached the victim, simulated handguns, and then took some of the victim’s personal belongings.

Detectives took over the investigation and identified the suspects as 18-year-old Isaac Ventura Martinez and a 14-year-old juvenile.

Later that evening, at about 11:00 PM, a search warrant was served on the 1200 block of Morris Avenue, leading to the arrest of both suspects and the recovery of evidence related to the crime. They are now booked into Monterey County Jail and Juvenile Hall, for robbery.

Special Olympics Summer Games

On Friday, officers from Greenfield had the honor of attending the Opening Ceremony of the Northern California Special Olympics Summer Games at Santa Clara University.

We joined law enforcement agencies from across the region to welcome athletes from 46 Northern California counties, including Monterey County, as they competed in the Summer Games.

This past weekend was a celebration of these incredible athletes and a showcase of their talents.

We would like to thank Cristal Sanchez from the Monterey County Probation Department for leading the fundraising efforts and the Torch Run among law enforcement agencies in Monterey County.

DUI Driver Crashes into House

Last night, at about 9:00pm, Greenfield officers initiated a vehicle pursuit of a possible DUI driver near Oak Avenue and 11th Street. Officers attempted to catch up to the vehicle; however, the suspect was driving at a high rate of speed and eventually crashed into a residence on the 1200 block of Elm Avenue.

The driver, 19-year-old Fredy Melo Najera, of Greenfield, fled the scene but was later located and taken into custody. Thankfully, no one inside the home was injured during the crash.

We want to remind everyone to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity or reckless driving. Your eyes and voices help keep Greenfield safe!

Today, our Greenfield Officers, the Greenfield Fire Department, and students from Ms. Torres’ Room 303 at Greenfield High School joined Monterey County law enforcement agencies to escort the Flame of Hope to the Northern California Special Olympics!

Greenfield Police Department Holding DUI/DL Checkpoint June 20th.

On 06/20/2025, the Greenfield Police Department will conduct a driving under the influence (DUI) and Driver’s License (DL) Checkpoint from 6PM to 10PM at an undisclosed location within the city limits.

DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on data showing incidents of impaired driving-related crashes. The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints is to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off the road.

Greenfield Police Department reminds the public that impaired driving is not just from alcohol. Some prescription medications and over-the-counter drugs may interfere with driving. While medicinal and recreational marijuana are legal, driving under the influence of marijuana is illegal.

Drivers charged with a first-time DUI face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, as well as a suspended license.

Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Highway Patrol, through the Cannabis Tax Fund Grant Program.

GHS Senior BBQ and Graduation

Yesterday, we celebrated the Greenfield High School Class of 2025 with our annual Senior BBQ!

This tradition began with the GearUp program to support our students’ success, and while GearUp is no longer at GHS, we are proud to have continued this meaningful event. Our Greenfield Police and Fire Departments have come together each year to celebrate our graduating seniors

BBQing for the seniors isn’t just about good food—it’s a meaningful way to build relationships and trust within our community. By engaging directly with our youth in a relaxed, positive setting, we can acknowledge their accomplishments and show them that we’re here to support them now and in the future—events like this help us do just that.

And today, our seniors officially graduated!

Congratulations to the Greenfield High School Class of 2025. We wish you the very best as you step into the next chapter of your lives.

Building a stronger Greenfield — Together!

Last week, our officers and staff had a blast visiting Ms. Hernandez and Ms. Torres’ kindergarten classes at Mary Chapa Academy. We read “Police Officers On Patrol,” Officer Rangel did a fun show-and-tell with a Q&A. The students loved their badge stickers, hats, and goodies.

We also partnered with the Fire Department to donate $1,627.00 to Greenfield High School football.
Thanks to police and fire union and personal donations, the funds will help supplement gear for this upcoming season.

Organized sports, like football, teach essential life skills like teamwork, discipline, perseverance, respect, and leadership.

These moments aren’t just about fun — they’re about investing in our youth, supporting teamwork, and keeping Greenfield safe and connected. Showing up at school events or games makes a big difference. It helps our kids feel supported and can even help steer them away from delinquent behavior like gang violence. Parent involvement and community support are key — when we all come together, we can do some good.

So, if you can, come out and support our youth — whether at a game, a school event, or just cheering from the sidelines. Your presence matters!

Together, we’re making Greenfield a better, safer place for everyone.

Help Keep Greenfield Safe

Last week, our officers responded with CHP and medical personnel to a vehicle collision on Metz Road, just outside city limits. Our officers arrived first and found a sedan had collided head on with a semi-truck.

The driver was an unlicensed 15-year-old boy — luckily, he was not seriously injured, though understandably shaken. The dash camera captured the moment our officer comforted the teen after the crash.

CHP determined the sedan entered a turn at a high rate of speed, causing it to drift into the opposite lane, leading to the crash. This incident could have been much worse, and it’s a reminder for all of us to stay vigilant on the road.

Parents and guardians: please take a moment to talk with your children about safety — whether they’re driving, walking, biking, or riding a scooter. Laws are in place to protect everyone, and your family guidance can make a difference.

Drivers: stay alert, drive defensively, and expect the unexpected.

And to our Greenfield families — if you’re the parent or guardian of a 2025 Greenfield High School graduate, we invite you to have your child join us for a Sober Grad Celebration on Friday, June 6, 2025, from 8pm to 2am at Greenfield High School. State-of-the-Art Equipment for Better Response

We’re happy to share that we’ve added two state-of-the-art DJI drones to our public safety tools! These new drones are helping us serve and protect our community even better.

One drone will be housed on the police department’s roof, ready to auto-deploy and respond quickly to emergency calls. This will provide officers with real-time video footage within minutes, helping us assess situations faster and make informed decisions.

The other drone will be mobile and carried by a specially trained drone operator in their patrol vehicle. This will allow officers to launch the drone manually from anywhere in the field, giving them greater flexibility and real-time situational awareness during emergencies.

These drones come equipped with advanced technology, including video recording and streaming, infrared, and heat signature capabilities, which enhance our ability to keep everyone safe, especially during complex or dangerous situations.

Drones are an exciting part of modern policing, helping us respond more quickly, improve safety during emergencies, and better serve our community.

Encampment Cleanups

This week, our Community Service Officers teamed up with Greenfield Public Works to conduct a coordinated cleanup of four separate homeless encampments along Highway 101.

We understand the challenges these encampments can pose—not only in terms of health and safety for the unhoused individuals living there, but also for the broader community. That’s why we’re taking proactive steps to address these concerns with compassion and care.

Beyond cleanup efforts, our teams are focused on connecting individuals to vital resources and support services, working toward long-term solutions to homelessness.
