Non-Spoiler Review:
I enjoyed the show for the most part, even though it's an extreme departure from my favorite stories, from my favorite media property and it's lore.
The dynamics, chemistry and dialogue between Hal Jordan and John Stewart is the strongest attribute of the show.
Actors Aaron Pierre and Kyle Chandler did a phenomenal job portraying their comic book counterparts, I wish we had more of them working together than against each other.
Aaron Pierre's portrayal as John Stewart is exactly what I'd want from a live action adaptation of the character from the comics, even with the very few British accent slips lol.
Pierre does an excellent job with John's serious and calculative nature as well as being a physical presence on screen.
As much as I'd want a younger Hal Jordan on screen, Kyle Chandler did fine with what he was given and embodied the spirit of Hal Jordan.
Chandler's southern accent didn't bother me as much as I thought it would, as Hal Jordan from the comics doesn't have southern roots.
I understand and appreciate the grounded atmosphere and mature narratives that the show creators wanted, but it's groundedness makes for a lackluster comic book adaptation.
I did like the little comic book nods we got, but they were too few and far between.
The show severely lacks in the science fiction action fantasy department, interplanetary travel, aliens, costumes, factions and GREEN aura, which are fundamental aspects of the Green Lantern mythos.
I look forward to a GREENer, brighter and more cosmic live action adaptation in the near future.
