David Eby just called a snap election, right on top of local municipal elections. This is a brazen attempt to hold onto power, at the cost of taxpayer funds, serving the public, and overall democracy. BC deserves a better political alternative, one that doesn’t put their needs above yours, cave to corporate interests and break promises. Strap in, get involved, and get ready to make your voice heard. Let’s do this thing - join us at the link in bio #bcelection2026 #bcgreens by @greenpartybc

American billionaires are buying up record amounts of farmland in BC. While provinces like Quebec have put heavy restrictions on foreign ownership, we’re watching some of the richest men in America make huge speculative purchases - pushing out locals and taking valuable land from farmers.

🚨Sign our petition (link in bio) to stand up for local ownership of our farms, and stop this billionaire land grab. #bcpoli #billionaires #landgrab by @greenpartybc

⚡️CANDIDATE ANNOUNCEMENT: Sidney Coles for Esquimalt - Colwood! @coles_sidney

“I want to support Esquimalt and Colwood in continuing to be places where people and their families feel welcome, safe, and are able to thrive.”

Sidney Coles is a journalist, communications professional, researcher, and former public servant running to represent Esquimalt-Colwood. Her career has focused on environmental justice, human rights, Indigenous issues, gender equity, and building stronger, more inclusive communities.

As a reporter in the Capital Regional District, Sidney has developed a close understanding of the challenges facing local municipalities and communities. She is running to bring that experience to public life with a focus on evidence-based policy, environmental responsibility, reconciliation, accountable government, and ensuring Esquimalt-Colwood remains a place where people and families can feel welcome, safe, and able to thrive.

⚡️POLICY DROP: Rights for Renters!

For renters, secure housing is never assured; British Columbia leads the country in “renovictions” (displacement due to a landlord renovating), access to housing remains the top reason for surrendering pets, and a third of renters will spend over half of their income on rent.

North Vancouver and Vancouver are the two most expensive cities in Canada for renters, with average rents of $3,039 and $2,686 per month respectively.

Six of the 20 most expensive cities to rent in Canada are in British Columbia.

The BC Greens believe that housing is a basic human right, a place where individuals, families and communities can live in security and dignity—not a tool for generating profit. Today we announced the leadership we will deliver:
The BC Greens will:
-Bring back the Community Housing Fund the NDP cancelled
-Bring in vacancy control, so rents can’t spike every time someone moves out
-End pet bans, the promise Eby broke

⚡️CANDIDATE ANNOUNCEMENT: Andrew Appleton for Oak Bay - Gordon Head! @appleton4bcgreens

Andrew Appleton has served as a municipal councillor for the District of Oak Bay for the past 8 years. He chaired the District’s Community Climate Action Working Group, which launched the successful Coolkit community climate initiative.

Andrew is deeply rooted in his community, from being a coach with Bays United, to being on the board of the Greater Victoria Placemaking Network, he is committed to serving his neighbours.  “I’ve been on the front lines of where provincial policies land, and I’ve witnessed how those policies created issues for our residents,” said Appleton.

“As a councillor, I’ve championed housing affordability, active transportation, and climate action. Those that have seen my work on council and the Greater Victoria Library Board know that I am always one to advocate for forward thinking, creativity, and action on the issues that matter—and I speak up.
