Really looking forward to performing at the Inner West Jazz Fest this year with Jess and Dylan! We will be launching our album ‘Even Quiet Embers Carry Fire’!The Inner West Jazz Fest is on from August 27-29th, and has an incredible lineup this year. I am thrilled to be a part of it! JAZZ FOR ALL CAREER PANELWe are very excited and honoured to welcome Ellen Kirkwood, Jess Green, and Gemma Farrell to the 2026 Jazz For All Workshop as part of our virtual jazz careers panel!This panel will be an opportunity for workshop participants to gain insight about the career possibilities open to them as jazz musicians. ‘Koondarnangor (thunder)’ is out now! ‘Koondarnangor (thunder)’ is the first single from the upcoming album ‘Even Quiet Embers Carry Fire’ by guitarist Jess Green, saxophonist Sandy Evans, and Dylan van der Schyff on drums. This track expresses the mythical fascination with thunder, lightning, and the power of the stars for human life. Koondarnangor is the word for thunder for the Noongar people of Southwestern Australia – it is deeply connected to creation stories involving the rainbow serpent and therefore describes a phenomenon that links ancestral stories with the natural environment. The piece moves through various transformations of energy and emotion that evoke the beauty and violence of nature and the cosmos, while never losing sight of the beautiful but melancholic mood introduced at the outset.
