Today, we say thank you and farewell to our incredible intern, Braxtyn Cooper, as she wraps up an entire year with our team.

Braxtyn joined us during her senior year at Purdue University, where she is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources & Environmental Science with a concentration in Climate and Energy Solutions.

She began her time with us as our Community Outreach Intern, helping spread the word about our foundation and our mission. Thanks to her dedication and creativity, we doubled the number of communities we reached each year.

Later, Braxtyn transitioned into the role of Fund Development Intern, where she helped identify potential sponsors for our Trails Celebration and supported research into policies and procedures for a prospective endowment. Her work strengthened our efforts to build a sustainable future for the foundation.

Beyond her internship roles, Braxtyn made lasting contributions to our advocacy work. She conducted valuable research on 2025 HB 1616, which called for a study on the economic value of public recreation land, and helped develop the case we presented before the Interim Study Committee. She also researched federal and comparable state trails legislation, providing insights into how Indiana can reclaim its position as a national leader in trails. Most recently, she has contributed to the upcoming publication of Your Voice on the Trail, our advocacy guide for Hoosiers.

Braxtyn's curiosity, thoughtfulness, and commitment to our mission have made a meaningful impact on our organization and the communities we serve. We are deeply grateful for the time, talent, and passion she shared with us over the past year.

Thank you, Braxtyn, for everything you've accomplished. We can't wait to see all that you achieve next, and we wish you every success in the future! 🌳🎯📣💯💫🍀

(This post is a correction from an earlier post that misidentified this trail as the Monon, it is reportedly the Canal Towpath near Newfields in Indianapolis. Thank you to those who reached out to catch our mistake!) by @greenwaysfoundation

Trails, parks, public art, and community spaces across Indiana are growing stronger.

Greenways Foundation is proud to announce the 2025 disbursement of grants from the Greenways Foundation grant fund last year funding supported projects that expanded across access to trails, enhanced public spaces, connected communities, and improved quality of life throughout our state.

Most importantly these grants are made possible by Indiana motorists who choose the Greenways Foundation “I support trails” license plate. Every plate on the road helps generate funding that is reinvested directly into local projects, making Indiana healthier more connected and more vibrant to every Greenways Foundation license plate holder: thank you.

Your support is creating lasting impact in communities large and small across Indiana. Congratulations to our 2025 Grant recipients we look forward to sharing the incredible projects.

Your support is helping to bring to life this year.

Don’t drive? You can still support trails development and advocacy in Indiana by making a donation or signing up to become a monthly donor.
