Some of the black bunting that covered Lucerne, a Chicago sister city, where I was with my family on 9/11. The Chicago Symphony Orchestra was scheduled to play at the Lucerne Festival just a few hours later. The orchestra, though obviously distraught and far from home, decided not to cancel the concert; instead, they used it to acknowledge the unthinkable. Music Director Daniel Barenboim spoke to the audience about how music can capture feelings that words cannot, and they opened with the Star Spangled Banner. taken in Lucerne, Switzerland by @greerchicago

Thinking about something I'd never seen before, and haven't since, an intimate plaza in Ecuador with a dozen or so small trees covered in handwritten paper tags that held people's wishes. I don't know if this was inspired by Yoko Ono's wish tree project or vice versa, but there was something very moving about seeing all that hope gathered in one place. by @greerchicago

Every once in a while, we like to remind ourselves of Greer's brick & mortar beginnings. We won't be revisiting those days, but we are working towards having occasional shopping hours by the end of the year, in our same Webster Ave space, so stay tuned. Fun fact, our store is in the old stables for St. Vincent de Paul Church which is directly across the street. The big arched entrance in the front is where they would bring in the horses. 🐎💌 by @greerchicago
