My Kids have never eaten a Rice Krispy Treat before. Thats because I avoid ultra processed “food”, lab created ingredients, gmos and glyphosate. They loved them! #homemade #ricekrispies #tradwife

Rice Crispies

2.5 cups jasmine rice
Water for boiling rice
Tallow (for crisping)

Parboil the rice by boiling in water for 6 minutes. Strain off water and turn onto baking sheet lined with towel. Dry off the rice, then place onto baking sheet and bake at 200-250 for several hours until completely dry. Use a spatula to turn rice several times during low temp baking. Rice should snap in half when ready. Remove from oven.

Marshmallows

1 cup water (divided into 1/2 cups)
3 tbsp gelatin
1 cup maple syrup
1 pinch of salt
1/2 cup arrowroot powder
1/2 cup maple sugar, powered

Add 1/2 cup water to bowl of stand mixer. Sprinkle gelatin on top and allow to bloom 10 minutes. Heat maple syrup, 1/2 cup water, and salt on small pot over medium high, stirring frequently. Remove when this reaches 240F. This takes 30 min. Turn on stand mixer and break up the gelatin, then pour the maple syrup mixture into gelatin and turn speed up to high. Beat several minutes until you have marshmallow fluff. Spread into a prepared dish with parchment paper and allow to set several hours.

Rice Crispy Treats

8 tbsp butter
1 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp salt
5 cups homemade marshmallows, cut smaller
5 cups rice crispies

Melt butter o ver medium heat. Add marshmallows and stir. Add vanilla and salt. Turn heat to low. Add rice crispies and stir. Remove from heat. Put this into a parchment lined dish and allow to set. Cut when set. by @gretchy

My kids have never had the opportunity to eat many popular kid-marketed foods because I want better for them. These store-bought snack foods have become normalized in today’s world, but that doesn’t mean that they’re good for us. Just read the ingredients to see! Glyphosate-sprayed crops, seed oils, preservatives, artificial and natural flavors, food dyes, and more…

Did you know that these foods can be made simply with real, minimal ingredients? Homemade goldfish, for example, take just 20 minutes of prep time and have only 5 ingredients!

Yes, I prioritize my family’s health over convenience and this is why I take a little extra time to make these foods from scratch. But note, it doesn’t take me all day!

Comment “health” and I’ll send you a link to my brand new recipe website where you’ll find so many popular foods made with good ingredients and minimal unrefined sweeteners. New recipes daily!

There are so many things I don’t buy in the grocery store anymore because I Make them myself.

It’s not because I like the extra work load though :)

🍞Comment “Kitchen” and I’ll send you a link to take The Nourishing Kitchen Master Class!

With the information in this class, you’ll transform your life — simply with a basic kitchen foundation. We’ve lost connection to our food source and our kitchens. It’s time to reconnect with this lost art — not only for family, but for future generations to come.

I make so many things at home, rather than buying them, because they’re so much healthier for us when made in our own kitchen. Take bread, for example. Bread is just a few ingredients — flour, salt, and water. However, if you buy bread in the store, it’s got so many awful ingredients that actually harm our health. We wonder why so many people have gluten allergies. Hey, maybe it’s not the gluten, perhaps it’s all the fillers, preservatives, and additives that the manufacturing plants add to the wheat to make “bread”. Or, maybe it’s the glyphosate that was sprayed on the wheat by the monoculture industrial farming facility.

But, it’s not just the bread that’s loaded with *&!@. It’s the salad dressings, the gummies, the cookies and most everything else. In the case of broth, when you make it yourself, you don’t have to spend any money! You’re using the extras that people normally throw out. AND, when you make it yourself, it’s so much more nourishing and nutrient dense than the watered down versions found in the store.

Lastly, flour is a product that’s just so much more nutrient dense and healthful when you mill it yourself, right when you need it! In the stores, the flour is stripped of its bran and germ, leaving a starchy product behind that’s shelf stable and hard on our guts. Flour should contain the whole grain, not solely the endosperm — in the case of white all-purpose flour and most all wheat flours too.

What do you make at home that you used to buy at the store?

6 weeks pregnant recap — 40 years old. 4th baby. From the day I found out I was pregnant, my life changed a lot. I stopped tennis training, quit my workouts, started sleeping a lot more, being horizontal, eating more regularly, drinking more water often, and I couldn’t look at my 📧. I also found myself eating out or buying done for me foods because I just didn’t feel like making every meal. That about sums up my first trimester! 😅 Would love to know who else is on this🤰journey. Say hi and share your due month/date and age if u want 💕#1sttrimester #6weekspregnant #40yearsold by @gretchy
