I stopped posting on Instagram a few months ago (August to be exact). At first no one seemed to notice, but lately I have had a lot of people reaching out to make sure I’m ok. Honestly? I haven’t felt this good in a long time!

📷 I take photos without having the goal of posting them.
✌️When I lose followers, I know it’s not because of something I did.
✈️ I have been camping and on vacation, and spent our adventures in the moment, only taking notes for my journal.
🙋🏻‍♀️ Somehow when I stopped posting was when I had more job opportunities land in my lap!

A few things contributed to the halt:

I realized that friends knew everything about me without having to ask, and that turned into conversations offline fading. Once I realized that, the app gave me “the ick” 😬

My mental health was taking a toll. I would see things that triggered me and gave me a lot of fomo. So on top of not posting, some accounts I followed got hidden. At first I felt bad about this, then I realized it helped make my time on the app a lot more positive. ✨

I complained about it not being “Instagram in 2017 anymore” a lot.. and once I realized I didn’t have to stay at the party after I wasn’t having fun anymore, I made an Irish exit. 👋

So where does that leave us? I’m not sure yet! I still don’t know if I will create an acct for my freelance work, but I will report back if I do!
I also don’t know if I will pop in from time to time again… I do miss sharing about small shop finds, and having chats with my “Instagram friends”! Just trying to figure out how to balance it all, and giving myself permission to show up if/when I want to.

About last night: I really wasn’t sure what to expect when I got tickets for this event, but it turned out to be the group therapy session that a lot of us needed to have.

I learned last night that it’s not just me who has realized adult friendships are a lot harder than I thought they would be.

And it’s not just me who craves friendships that involve being silly but also talking about important things, and not cleaning the house before last minute hang outs happen. (I miss last minute hang outs the most!)

But that to have these friendships, we need to be vulnerable and open to them. And it’s normal for it to take a lot of trial and error to find people who you click with *and* are also being vulnerable and open to having new friendships.

And if it’s not just me who misses the friendships we had as kids but also wants the adult version of that, it’s probably not just you either. If you weren’t in the room last night, I thought maybe you would want to know that it’s not just you. 🫶

I could have listened to @diaryofanhonestmom and @nurturedfirst talk for hours. This week hasn’t been an easy one, but I was smiling a lot last night, and I’m thankful for all of the women in the room who made that happen ✨

I can’t take credit for this masterpiece, but I am SO happy we were able to get out and play in the snow this weekend! We were able to go sledding both days, and had so much fun!

For me, this ornament is the girlhood experienced at The Eras Tour in tangible form.

The bracelets are from girls on go train rides, bathroom line ups, and new friends made that day.

The ribbon is from someone who went to a show after me- I asked her to grab an extra one for me if she could so that I could keep my bracelet in tact and put it in my memory box (sentimental AF 🙋🏻‍♀️)

The confetti was sent to me by a stranger on TikTok who brought home as much as she could so that she could send it to anyone who couldn’t get any 😭

The night @taylorswift gave us wouldn’t have been the same without each and every girl that was there. I will forever be thankful that I was able to be a part of it in a small way high up in the sky on the Corona Patio N1 🫶

I’m still not over it.

I am going to attempt to put into words what going to the eras tour meant to me.

I have been a fan of Taylor for so long, that sometimes it felt like I was her *only* fan. Before social media became what it is now, you really only had your friends to discuss pop culture with. And when none of my friends really listened to her, it felt like only *I* had All Too Well as my favourite song to sing in the car, or only *I* spent an embarrassing amount of time trying to turn I’d Lie into a ringtone on my phone. She would tour during these years, but I wasn’t old (mature?) enough to even consider just going by myself.

Fast forward to The Eras Tour. Taylor is an icon, and tickets are next to impossible to get. I followed all of the accounts, was ON TIME for every single ticketmaster drop, and I was never allowed in, or won a contest.

But I had to be there. This show was going to play from every single album, and not going wasn’t an option.

My 11 year old neighbour and I had a pact that if one of us got tickets, we were bringing the other. Two days before Taylor came to Toronto, we splurged and GOT THE TICKETS!!!!

It was everything I hoped it would be.
The girlhood is incredible!!! Complimenting outfits, trading bracelets, crying, hugging, becoming instant friends….
I was in that line.
I was running to our section.
I was screaming at the top of my lungs.
I was dancing all night long.
I was singing my heart out.

It was rare
I was there
I remember it
All too well.

And when I tell you that I can’t write any of this without tears streaming down my face….. I just want everyone that wants to experience this, to be able to experience it. I will be talking about N1 in Toronto *forever*

Long live all the magic we made. ✨

Traveling with two kids has an extra layer of constant chaos. Whether it’s someone throwing up in the backseat, or someone repeating themselves over and over, or someone needing a snack NOW, it was constant and sometimes overwhelming.

But at one point, Matt looked at me and said “we’re never going to remember how hard this was, we’re going to look back at these photos and only remember how great the trip was” and already it’s so true. I can hear the laughter when I look at these pictures, and am already missing the ocean. I would walk through the insane wind to see the starfish in the tide pools any day, and kind of loved sharing a room with the girls who woke up way too early for most of our trip.

We were so lucky with the weather, and had lots of beach time! I loved teaching Harper about tides, and watching Marlo find the joy in every situation ☀️🍦💦

Would it have been easier if it was just the two of us? Of course. But I hope we instil a love for travel in these girls so that they can have these memories too 💛

Happy New TS Album Release Day!!!!

I have a long standing tradition with myself where any time a new @taylorswift album is released, I pour over the lyrics as I listen to the songs for the first (and second, and third) time, writing down my favourites.
