Maybe building a design studio is a romantic thing.

Having an idea in the morning
and spending the rest of the day trying to make it real.

Concrete dust.
Good light.
Bad prototypes.
A piece that finally works.

Just a POV. by @greyblock___

A statement piece should make a statement.

01–04 is an ongoing exploration of concrete and functionality — pushing a familiar material into unfamiliar territory.

Object 01 → Object 04. Four stages of figuring out what this material can do.

01 Oval Tray
The starting point: my first work in concrete, and still one of the best sellers 👌
02 Round Tray
A larger surface, built to explore pattern.
03 Reversible Table
Developed after refining the cement composite. Two finishes on one object, so the space can change in a second.
04 Tiled Furniture
Modular pieces built from tiles. Geometry and pattern applied across interior and exterior.

01 - 04. Not a ranking.

Do you notice how the depth of black changes depending on what material it’s paired with?

The same black can feel flat, dense, soft, glossy, raw — simply because of what sits next to it.

That’s materiality.

Physical, tangible, sensory qualities of a material & how those qualities affect the experience or meaning of an object or space.

Sometimes, all it takes is looking at something from a different angle.

A bicycle can be a bicycle.
Or it can be a line, a curve, a structure, a pattern — a starting point for something completely different.

Marcel Duchamp famously challenged the idea of what an object could be when he turned an ordinary bicycle wheel into his Bicycle Wheel in 1913. His readymades questioned whether the act of choosing, repositioning and changing the context of an object could create a new way of seeing it. (National Galleries of Scotland)

That idea still interests me.

Because designing isn’t always about inventing something from nothing.

Sometimes it’s about noticing something that everyone else has already seen — and seeing it differently.

OBJECT 01 - OVAL TRAY

An everyday object, reduced to its essential geometry.

Pretty enough to keep on display.
Useful enough to actually use.

Advanced cement-based composite. Two sizes. Made in EU.

Most people are afraid of pattern. They’ll commit to a color, a material, a shape — and then flatten everything else around it just to feel safe.

Pattern is what makes a functional object worth looking at twice. Add more of it. Let two patterns sit in the same room — it’s what gives a space depth instead of just matching furniture.

They said I have a pattern. So I turned it into design.
Repeating the bad habits was never the problem. Now it’s looking good in your bedroom.

Grey might be boring. Add a pattern.
Now it’s the best-looking thing in the room.
