Disney World, here we come! It’s National Down Syndrome Awareness Month and we have a plan!

Day 1 of Training Like a Disney Character and kicking off our mission to raise $15,000 for Down Syndrome Awareness 💛💙
We’ve got until February 2026 to make it happen.

Our first side quest? The Disney Princess 5K 👑

Here’s the thing… I hate running.
And I just had a baby. 😅

So why are we doing this?
Our son Eli was born with Down syndrome.
He’s thriving, but he has some special needs we didn’t fully understand at first.

For example, did you know people with Down syndrome often have a 10–15% slower metabolism?
I didn’t. But I do now.
And that’s just the start of what we’ve been learning.

We realized that as a family, we need to start building healthy habits now
so we can bring Eli into positive routines as he grows and gets the support he deserves. 💪

The fun twist?
We have to get our 2-year-old daughter on board too 😂
So we told her we’re training like her favorite Disney characters.

We signed up for Team @ndssorg Disney Princess 5K Team and are raising $1,500 for this first milestone.
While Noa won’t be running with us, she’ll be learning right alongside us and that’s what matters most. 💛💙

We came for the room and the sunsets, but everything else is what made us want to come back. 🇨🇷

Private yoga surrounded by greenery. Quiet afternoons by the adults-only pool. Learning how Costa Rican coffee goes from bean to cup. Making tamales with the resort chefs. Snorkeling at Playa Penca. And yes, my first tomahawk steak cooked over an open flame.

Even with all of that, the best part was how peaceful and welcoming the entire experience felt.

It gave us the quiet couples’ escape we needed, while still being somewhere we’d happily bring our family next time.

This was a 10 out of 10 trip for me. I arrived thinking it might be a once-in-a-lifetime stay and left planning when we could return.

I seriously think we found one of the most underrated luxury resorts in Central America. 🇨🇷

Waldorf Astoria Costa Rica Punta Cacique is tucked into the cliffs above Playa Penca, and somehow, the experience was even better than the views.

Our one-bedroom penthouse suite had floor-to-ceiling windows, a private plunge pool overlooking the Pacific and some of the most beautiful sunsets we’ve ever seen.

Then came cocktails at The Terrace, an incredible dinner at La Finca and a staff that made luxury feel warm and personal instead of overly formal.

And somehow, that was only day one.

Welp the Disney Cruise is booked and we’re headed to the Bahamas! Not gonna lie her being packed for this one caught me off guard ill have to step my game up next time…but theres a fun surprise on this one we’ll more details tomorrow

Just casually handing my wife a Little Mermaid duck, a sandcastle bucket, an Ursula bath toy, a tiny Disney cruise ship and LITERAL SAND to see how long it takes her to figure out what’s happening 😂🏝️🛳️

Anyways, the Cruise is booked to the Bahamas and we leave in LESS THAN 24 HOURS, but theres one more surprise in store :)

She’s really not picking up on the clues though… 👀😂

Okay… what do you guys think? Should I do it again? 👀

I mean, she looks like she needs a vacation. Or she can stay home and argue with a toddler about whether lunch should be turkey and cheese or a bag of Marshmallows. Tough call.

TBH, the timing feels kind of perfect. Down Syndrome Awareness Month starts tomorrow, and we’re currently raising money in honor of Eli as we get ready for the Wine & Dine race.

So I’m thinking maybe we tell her about the last-minute surprise trip back and have a little fun with it while raising money at the same time.

Mom gets a vacation.
The kids get a vacation.
We make some memories.
And hopefully we can raise some money for Down syndrome awareness along the way.

Feels like a win winwin to me 😂

Throwback to surprising Alyssa with a last minute trip to Aulani 😂🌺

Which sounded like a great idea until it was time to pack for two kids in a hurry.

Thankfully Nana and the grandparents jumped in because there was absolutely no way we were pulling this off alone 😂

A little chaotic, definitely last minute, but such a good family trip.

Still one of my favorite surprises we’ve pulled off ❤️

Woke my wife up at 4AM and told her we were leaving for Costa Rica in 3 hours 😂

Was she thrilled? Absolutely not.

Did she forgive me once we got there? Also… eventually 😂🌴

#NCLPartner We did it again, internet!!! 😂🌴💦

Special thanks to @NorwegianCruiseLine for hosting us and helping make this surprise such a fun one.

We hopped off the ship in the Bahamas and headed straight into Great Tides Waterpark, where somehow one day turned into 19 waterslides, a dynamic river with LED lights overhead, a floating bar, a giant splash pad for the kids and a whole lot of screaming from Alyssa 😂

The kids had an absolute blast, we definitely felt like kids again ourselves, and this might be one of the most fun cruise days we’ve had in a while.

Now I need to know…

#NCLPartner Okay Norwegian… this suite was a GOOD surprise 😂

We stayed in an aft-facing penthouse suite on Norwegian Getaway and it’s officially the biggest suite we’ve had on a cruise.

Loved the huge shower and tub, the fancy welcome treats, and that balcony is going to be perfect for sailaway as we head to Great Tides Waterpark.
