Surviving almost everything you ever feared in life one event after the other, changes you. I’ve experienced a lot the last 7 years. I’ll leave out the details, because everyone has their own demons their battling, and I know it can always be worse. So I’m not writing this to compare, just to share.
I remember reading a quote that said something like, “Real results and change come when you’re sick of your own shit”. That couldn’t hit home any harder.
15 months now into my self isolation journey. No noise, no validation, no progress pictures, no coaches. Just pain, sweat, researching, rewiring, and promises to myself. Show up, be better, heal! Every damn day. Sick, tired, injured, stressed. Doesn’t matter. Emotions don’t win, action does.
I chased discomfort on purpose, I put myself in situations I knew I couldn’t handle. To kill that inner bitch voice. To endure and to build unbreakable discipline and will power. This was more than therapy and getting fit. I started training for life. I wanted to seek and destroy.
My greatest achievement so far, I finally got comfortable, being uncomfortable. I feel ok here. Still sore, still injured, still fighting demons, but I still show up. Brick by brick, cup slowly refills.
These days, those little wins are my motivation to keep going.
Don’t get it twisted, this isn’t the road to be a bodybuilder, I’m just trying to be better than I was yesterday.
Far from perfect and never was, but miles ahead of who I let myself be.

Took my new bike to the Bakersfield hills for a little break-in ride. Trying to get a little seat time in the 106° weather before jumping it for the 4th of July event in Pomona, CA. taken in Bakersfield, California by @griffinfmx

Yesterday (Oct. 17th) My sister Kelli, Aunt Peggy, and I, drove down to my mothers favorite vacation spot Newport Beach, CA to celebrate her life and first heavenly year. We rented a boat, bought candy, souvenirs, and reminisced on the good times we had over the years in Newport and summer homes we’ve rented there.

This song holds a special place in my heart. I remember around 2013 during one of our summer vacations, we took a boat over to Catalina island. On the ride over there, I played this song for my mom. It was just her and I sitting at a table on the boat, ocean all around us, the sun was shining through the glass on my mom and we listened to this song. Ever since then, I knew what I was going to use this song for. Anytime I hear it, or when life gets me down, I play this song and it takes me back to the vivid memory I have of us on that boat ride, and it puts a smile on my face … We miss you momma, and we love you so much! Happy 1st year in heaven. 🤍🕊️ by @griffinfmx

Yesterday, April 26th marks the 3rd year that I lost my dad. Yesterday is also the day that the 11 1/2 years god graced me with of my girls life would expire in this world. I feel like I’ve written too many eulogies in the past 3 years that I can’t find the words anymore… To anyone that has met Drayce, or knows me, knows what she meant to me. She was my rock, and has always been there for me through my adult ups and downs. She’s my best friend, and I love that girl as if she were my child. Thank you to everyone that was so kind to her, cared for her, and helped make her life what it was. She had the best support system from my family, sister, girlfriend, friends, and neighbors, and I tried to give her the best life I could. Drayce, The Greatest Dane will be deeply missed by many. Life will not be the same without you sweetheart. You left a huge paw print on my heart. Daddy loves you so much.
