So…I haven’t posted on Instagram in over a year. I’ve mainly just been working and haven’t done anything worth posting to my Gran Torino or my mk2s, but I still have them. I placed an order for a 2025 Subaru BRZ Limited way back in January, and it finally arrived exactly a week ago!

I chose the BRZ over the GR86 because I kind of do like the front bumper a little more, because (at least until current events happened), you could special order exactly what you wanted, whereas Toyota allocates the cars/combinations it chooses to make to its dealerships, because the throttle mapping and suspension are a little more street friendly, and other reasons. Yes, I did order the automatic, because it’s a daily. No regrets. The last photos are when I drove one of these cars for the first time (a GR86 Premium in July 2024, also automatic). I’m pretty happy. by @griffinsavoy

A new Gran Torino has landed. 1972 sedan, 302/C4, 3.00 open rear end, manual brakes, Light Blue with what appears to be a factory painted roof like our ‘71 Maverick. Supposedly 19,000 original miles. Definitely yanking the drivetrain, not sure about the rest yet.

A few snaps from #dragweek2023 day 1. Congratulations, Chris and Leila, for blowing your 15 second goal out of the water!

Somehow, I’d never seen an AMC Pacer in person until yesterday. This one was likely sold new in Augusta, GA and its life is going to end there too, so I’m surprised it’s so rusty.

The real reason for two junkyard trips in five days was this 1973 Montego MX. The old “word of mouth” junkyards are wild to walk through, but you can’t beat the prices at places like @pullapartauto.

Last post on this car, I swear! I just had to go back for some (slightly) better photos.

Found a definite bucket list car in the junkyard today - a 1986 Isuzu Impulse, naturally aspirated base model (these came with a lot of standard equipment). My first time seeing an Impulse of any kind in person.

I had an unexpectedly amazing #mk2sday today. I found out about this new arrival ‘86 Westy Golf and initially only wanted the grille and rad support, but things got crazy when I walked up and saw that it had a partial Kamei X1 kit and badges! My dad and I pulled all that stuff, and though the parts need some repairs, I’m glad they’ll live on. Got it all for $139 out the door, and the Westy grille is near-perfect. 139k on the car too, thing probably looked sweet in its day with this colorway.

Some highlights from this morning’s Cars and Coffee, my first public event in 9 months. Got to see a Yugo in person for the first time. This one’s an ‘88 GV that was won by a woman in a pageant. USC’s SCCA chapter also needs to be restarted... by @griffinsavoy
