Il ne restait de lui qu’un pied — brutalement réel, ancré dans le présent. Le reste s’était dissous, traîne lumineuse, forme à mi-chemin entre les mondes. Le seuil est partout. Le passage, nulle part.

Nothing left of him but a foot — brutally real, anchored in the present. The rest had dissolved, a trail of light, a form halfway between worlds. The threshold is everywhere. The crossing, nowhere.
