LOVING YOURSELF IS A DOUBLE EDGE SWORD⚔️❤️‍🩹

Depends on what you mean by “love” and “yourself” but I feel that generally, “love yourself” often gets misinterpreted and later on leads to more self deprecating tendencies…speaking from experience. I feel the scrolling on by happening as I’m writing this, BUT WAIT THERE’S MORE!!

You don’t have to build up a new shiny self loving identity around the one you “didn’t like” before. It becomes a new thing you have to maintain and give attention to which is ultimately leading you away from the thing you REALLY want which is to enjoy your VERY limited time here on earth🌎👽

Okay now what? If I can’t spend my days in my head analyzing every move I make as good, bad, right or wrong to determine how well I’m doing or how much I “love myself”, what will I spend my time doing?

Good question, give it a go - you might surprise yourself. Realize the person you’ve spent so long trying to learn how to love isn’t the one you’re thinking about.

Love is a state of being✨ not a list of things you need to accept about yourself before you can allow yourself to be it!! It’s not conditional, it’s not scarce, it’s not a belief, it doesn’t come from someone else, it’s what you ARE!🩷

Re-meeting myself. Again and again, Is she something I will ever know? Or something I get to witness as the enthusiastic observer?

A knowing. I don’t know you, you don’t know me, even I don’t know me. But there’s a knowing. It comes and goes, and I get wrapped up in thinking I know what that knowing is, but I don’t.

What I do know? I forever and always will be on my own. Not in a sad or self-deprecating way, but an honest way. It’s true for everyone. You’re the only one who’s experienced you. The only one who knows exactly what you’ve been through, no matter how hard you try to encapsulate and express what that is, you are the only one who’s been there for ALL of it, and will continue to be…

You can’t attribute getting through anything to anyONE or anyTHING else. It’s all you. Yes. It’s equal parts freeing and terrifying, that’s the balance and the beauty of the universe baby…

No one has the answers. Trust that you -on your own- have all that you will ever need and more. Trust that you can handle what is being presented, or else it wouldn’t be presenting itself. Shower yourself in your own love but not cause you need to, you’re enough. Be with you, be honest, you’re all you’ve got. by @grooveevee
