thinking of her today 🥺💓 almost 3 years ago, i had one of the most life changing experiences i could imagine.. today i feel so proud of myself for how much i’ve grown as an artist, & so grateful for all of the experiences that have shaped me into the performer i am today! i can truly say that i have finally found my own authentic sound 💘

it has been a little over two years since i have released my own original music. i wrote this song with one of my favorite writers/producers/musicians of all time (& great friend for almost a decade) @finishyoursongs as a pitch for an artist who was shopping nostalgic r&b music. ultimately, the artist ended up going in a different direction musically, so we sat with the song for a while, wondering if we should pitch it to other artists. i knew in my heart since the day we started recording the demo that i wanted SO badly for this song to be my own. i grew up listening to all of the r&b “it girls” (beyoncé, aaliyah, mariah, brandy etc.), & r&b inspiration has lived inside of me since childhood, waiting to be explored more thoroughly. this track was created by the iconic @monteneuble who gave us something SO unique & creative to write to. he has collaborated & toured with so many great artists (rihanna, mary j. blige, frank ocean & countless others) so being able to create art with him & jason in music-form feels surreal & full-circle. inspiration comes & goes, but this song (& the process of creating it) has been one of my proudest musical accomplishments yet! i can’t wait until it’s officially YOURS so very soon!!! sink or swim 9/4 (pre-save link in bio)! 💿 by @groovyraq
