📻 Yesterday, our @riskreadycommunities resilience programme was featured on @bbcleicester again. The programme’s delivery manager Alice reiterates that there’s no need to panic after the national campaign launched last week, which encourages households to have extra items ready in case of disruption. She advises people to ensure they have a wind-up radio and torch, batteries, long-life food, bottled water, cash, copies of important documents and other items easily accessible at home. Alice also says that this advice does not mean that there’s any disruption expected, it is simply to help household be better prepared in case of an emergency. Get free resources on the Risk Ready website or sign up for our free winter preparedness webinar on Wednesday 4 November 6.30 – 8pm 👆 Link in bio 👆 @communitiesprepared by @groundworkfivecounties

🤔 How many days could you prepare meals for your household if you had no oven, hob, kettle, air fryer, microwave or toaster? Three days? Five days? Or longer? ⚡ This is just one of the challenges we’d all face during a prolonged power cut – but taking small steps now to be prepared can make all the difference. Watch back our @riskreadycommunities webinar ‘Preparing for utility outages’ for useful tips on how to be better prepared for a loss of electricity, gas or water 👆 link in bio 👆 @communitiesprepared by @groundworkfivecounties
💼 The government’s Autumn budget will be announced on Wednesday, with more financial support for energy bills expected to be announced. This morning our Green Doctor Alastair stopped by @BBC Radio Nottingham, to talk about the cost of living, the rising energy price cap, and what people can do to save money at home. 💡 Easy tips include only filling the kettle with what you need, not overheating empty rooms, and using the eco setting on your washing machine. Alastair also gave advice on how to prevent and tackle damp and mould, a huge health hazard that can quickly build up at this time of year. 💷 You can get free support with your energy bills with a visit from a Green Doctor 👆 link in bio 👆 by @groundworkfivecounties
🌳 We are working in Snipe Park Wood (Harworth & Bircotes) to make improvements that benefit visitors, the wildlife and local biodiversity. Our tasks are wide-ranging, from making pathways more accessible, cleaning up overgrown vegetation and clogged drains, to creating new habitats. We’d love to hear how you use Snipe Park Wood, and what improvements you would like to see. The survey takes just 2 minutes, and each response will help us to make the area safer, more accessible and enjoyable 👇 https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Q6LBJ3K @bassetlawdc @bassetlawcvs by @groundworkfivecounties
