Furniture and objects, made with purpose and built to last. Designed and built in Connecticut, grOv is a small-batch studio focused on commissioned work and original pieces.

Using honest materials, intentional design, and hands-on craftsmanship, grOv creates furniture and objects that are made to last.

From the first board to the final finish, every piece is crafted by hand in the same shop where the idea began.

Hey! I’m Josh Garceau, the founder of grOv. Starting in 2025, grOv began as a creative pursuit to turn my sketches and creative ideas into tangible art that tells a story. My experience in woodworking began when I was 14, learning the fundamentals from my father. Since then, I have grown to love combining my creativity and woodworking skills to produce high quality, hand-crafted pieces.

To me, designing furniture is much more than just building something to fill a space. One of the most rewarding parts of my line of business is working one on one with clients to bring their ideas to life and building a connection with the owners of the piece.

When I’m not in the shop, you can usually find me cooking or hiking. Spending time outdoors and in the kitchen gives me an outlet to relax and helps encourage creativity for my next design.

Building grOv has been one of the most fulfilling experiences of my career. My hope is that the work I do reflects my passion. My mission is to help people connect with hand-crafted pieces, stories behind them, and the intention that goes into building them.

Got away to the White Mountains this past weekend for a few days on the trail.

Spending time outdoors has always been one of my favorite ways to recharge and take a break from the day-to-day. It’s a good reminder to slow down, enjoy the process, and appreciate the things that inspire the work I do in the shop.

These twin plinths started as a pair of white oak off-cuts that sat in my shop for months waiting for the right project.

I freehanded the design with charcoal and chalk, then shaped, sculpted, and sanded each piece by hand. To finish them, I applied a homemade iron acetate solution (0000 steel wool + distilled white vinegar) that reacts with the tannins in the white oak, turning the wood a deep black while keeping the grain visible.

Swipe through for a look at the process from raw material to finished piece.
