From Cream to Biscuit! 🧈
Last week our Growing Gourmets churned their own butter and today we put the leftover buttermilk to good use! The kids learned how to make stovetop buttermilk biscuits from scratch, practicing key baking skills like leavening, mixing, kneading, and stovetop cooking.

Nothing beats watching them connect the dots from one lesson to the next and, of course, their favorite part enjoying those warm, flaky biscuits at the end! 🍞✨

This week’s lesson was all about the importance of measurements in the kitchen — and what better way to practice than with fluffy, golden pancakes? 🥞 The kids had so much fun measuring, mixing, and flipping their way to this delicious treat. It’s always a hit and a crowd favorite every year! #growinggourmets #kidscookingclass #kidsinthekitchen by @growing_gourmets

The kids made something sweet for Mom! From melting and tempering chocolate to dipping and decorating, they learned the art of making chocolate-covered strawberries—just in time for Mother’s Day!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! ☘️🍞 Today, our little chefs got their hands messy making traditional Irish soda bread to celebrate! They kneaded, shaped, and baked their own mini loaves—and the best part? Tasting them hot and fresh! Want to try it at home? Here’s the simple recipe:

🥄 Small-Batch Irish Soda Bread (Makes 1 loaf)
• 2 cups all-purpose flour
• ½ tsp baking soda
• ¾ tsp salt
• ¾ cup buttermilk

👩‍🍳 Directions:
1️⃣ Preheat oven to 425°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment.
2️⃣ In a bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, and salt.
3️⃣ Gradually add buttermilk, stirring until a dough forms.
4️⃣ Knead gently on a floured surface, shape into a round loaf, and cut an ‘X’ on top.
5️⃣ Bake for 25-30 min or until golden and sounds hollow when tapped.
6️⃣ Cool slightly, then enjoy warm with butter!

Our little chefs did an amazing job today—can’t wait for next week’s adventure! 💚 #GrowingGourmets #StPatricksDayBaking #KidsInTheKitchen #littlechef by @growing_gourmets
