⭐️BOOK REVIEW⭐️

Stay Buried by Jane R. Miles - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5Stars

An Impressive Debut That Balances Suspense and Heart

It’s hard to believe ‘Stay Buried’ is Jane R. Miles’ debut novel. From the very first page, she creates an atmosphere that is both haunting and deeply emotional, proving she has a remarkable talent for balancing suspense with heart.

The Australian setting was one of my favorite aspects of the story. Cyclone Tracy isn’t simply a backdrop; it becomes part of the novel’s DNA, shaping the mystery and adding an authenticity that makes the whole story feel unsettlingly real. As an Australian reader, I especially appreciated seeing such an iconic piece of our history woven so seamlessly into the narrative.

What surprised me most was how heartbreaking this book became. Yes, it’s a psychological thriller with plenty of eerie moments and an ever-present sense of unease, but beneath the mystery is a story about loss, trauma, and the secrets that refuse to stay buried. The emotional threads lingered with me long after I turned the final page.

The ending was particularly well done. It answered the questions I needed answered, making the mystery feel complete, yet it never offered the comfort of a perfectly neat resolution. Instead, it left me with that bittersweet ache that reminds you that some truths, once uncovered, can never truly heal.

An impressive debut that delivers equal parts atmosphere, mystery, and emotion. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on whatever Jane R. Miles writes next.

Thank you so much, @hqbooks , for my gifted arc as part of the #HQInsiders . All thoughts and opinions are my own.

💜Book Feature💜

Thanks to @bookedwiththeemilys and @authorjudycorry for this #gifted copy of this book 🥰 Judy never disappoints and I thoroughly enjoyed reading Nora and Theo’s story.

Title: Stay Here With Me by Judy Corry

Tropes:
Single Dad x Nanny
Best Friend’s Brother
Forbidden Romance
Age Gap
Live-In Nanny / Forced Proximity
Slow Burn
Widower Hero
Found Family
She falls first, he falls harder
Healing & Second Chances

Synopsis:
Working as the nanny for her best friend’s brother was supposed to be simple.
Until the single dad she can’t have starts looking at her like she’s everything he wants.
Nora Miller knows that her best friend’s brother is completely out of her league. He’s older, extremely successful, and still carrying the quiet heartbreak of losing his wife two years ago.
But when Theo’s nanny suddenly quits and he asks Nora to fill in, she can’t turn him down.
As long as no one discovers her hopeless crush on her new boss, everything should be fine.
Theo Archibald is doing his best to rebuild his life after loss, but no matter how many dates he goes on, nothing ever feels right—something, he tells himself, that has nothing to do with his daughter’s new nanny.
But with Nora filling his home with warmth and laughter, it’s getting harder to pretend he doesn’t notice her. And somewhere between the stolen glances and late-night talks, the lines begin to blur, and he realizes he’s thinking about her in ways he shouldn’t.
She’s younger.
His sister’s best friend.
His employee.
But when she’s in his arms and the ache in his chest finally quiets, it’s hard to care about the rules he swore he wouldn’t break.
And when the woman who’s become his daughter’s favorite person starts to feel like the home he never thought he’d find again, he has to decide if a second chance at love is worth the risk… or if some lines should never be crossed.
STAY HERE WITH ME is a slow-burn, forbidden, single dad romance about second chances, found family, and falling for the one person you were never supposed to want.

🥰 BOOK REVIEW 🥰

@victorinelieske

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Victorine E. Lieske kicks off her Fictional Hearts Series with Falling into Fiction, a romantic comedy whose premise is as unique as it is delightful.

Charlotte Branson, a romance novelist with a looming deadline and a “mess” of a manuscript, wakes up inside her own novel as a minor character. The twist? She knows the plot, the characters, and—most amusingly—all the plot holes she left behind. For anyone who has ever tried to write a book, watching Charlotte call out her own lack of world-building and narrative inconsistencies is hilarious, but it also made me realize just how much the small details truly matter in storytelling.

The real strength here is watching Charlotte navigate a world she created but no longer controls. Her ironic situation is comedy gold. Nick’s reaction to her is perfect—he thinks she’s “crazy” but agrees to help her anyway, which sets up a fun, reluctant dynamic.

I wasn’t immediately invested in the characters, but the book finally finds its heart during the cabin scene. That’s where the real connection sparks, and from there, the chemistry between Charlotte and Nick becomes impossible to put down.

Two things kept this from being a perfect read for me. First, the first kiss felt misplaced. Given the build-up, it would have landed with much more impact if it had appeared a bit later, after more of that cabin-fueled tension.

Second, the book leans into some cliché phrasing. It’s a small nitpick, but for a book that so cleverly deconstructs writing tropes, it ironically falls into a few of them.

Despite those hiccups, I genuinely didn’t expect the ending to go the way it did, and the sneak peek of Book 2 has me already adding it to my TBR. If you love clean romantic comedies with a twist, this is a fun, quick escape.

✨They say time is the enemy, but in these pages, it felt like a friend, slowing down so I could underline every aching sentence.

✨The Enemy of Time by Haley-Grace McCormick follows Alex as she returns to her hometown for her five-year high school reunion. While there, she reconnects with Jamie — her childhood best friend and first love — and is forced to confront unresolved feelings, past misunderstandings, and the choices that led them down separate paths. Told through present-day interactions and reflections on the past, the story explores how time, distance, and missed communication can shape — and complicate — first love.
