I first discovered it years ago when I was searching for healthier places to eat after my late husband was diagnosed with cancer. Everything on the menu is made with certified organic ingredients, pasture-raised and grass-fed, grass-finished meats, and wild-caught fish. They also have fresh-pressed juices and a really great kids menu.The story behind it is just as meaningful. Founder Shannon Allen created the restaurant after her son was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at just 17 months old. After a scary moment when she couldn’t find quick, healthy food during a blood sugar emergency, she set out to create a place where real, organic meals are just as convenient as fast food.I wish all fast-food could be like this! Tonight wasn’t just a book launch party. It was a room full of people who’ve believed in me when belief felt impossible. My family and closest friends. My champions in the community. My close friend from college who’s like my little sister, Jasme Kelly, flew down from Chapel Hill to perform for me. My publisher Narendra Aryal from Amplify Publishing made the journey from DC. My criminal defense attorney David Markus was there. Ray and Shannon Allen opened Grown to hold this sacred space for us to talk about All Rise, the lessons, the impact on my kids, what this means for every leader and every home. I’m humbled by who showed up. This book isn’t mine alone. It’s built on the shoulders of every person who’s ever believed in my rise, who’s challenged me to stay honest, who’s shown me what accountability looks like in action. Tonight I felt it. The presence. The community. The people who’ve walked with me through invisible prisons and into purpose. This is what showing up for each other looks like.
