At the Township of Southgate Council meeting held on April 3, 2025, Council adopted the 2025 budget at 5.31% increase.

The approved budget outlines the allocation of taxpayer funds for the upcoming year, with a focus on maintaining and enhancing key community services. Residents are encouraged to view the below chart, that visually breaks down how every dollar of tax revenue is spent across various services and initiatives within the Township.

Water, Wastewater and Building departments are user fee funded, therefore have no impact on taxation. by @growsouthgate

The Southgate Planning Department is seeking public feedback on proposed changes to the Southgate Zoning By-law related to certain On Farm Diversified Uses (accessory uses to Agricultural Operations). These proposed changes would allow a small number of OFDUs to proceed without requiring a Zoning By-law Amendment if all rules are met.

The open house will outline the proposed rule changes and the limited size of OFDU’s that would be permitted to proceed if these rules are adopted. In all other cases, a rezoning would still be required. The OFDU would still need to meet all requirements of the Building Code.

A further public meeting with Council will occur - but has yet to be scheduled.

Please join us at the following times:
📆April 30, 2025 1:00pm to 3:30pm at the Holstein Council Chambers; or
April 30, 2025 5:30 to 7:30pm at the Frank MacIntrye Building, Dundalk.

📨Comments will be accepted until May 2, 2025 and can be emailed to planning@southgate.ca. by @growsouthgate

We would like to recognize and thank our Public Works and Fire Department staff who have worked tirelessly over the past few days during the ice storm and throughout the on-going clean up for keeping our roadways clear and ensuring the safety of our residents. As well as our Recreation Department for managing the Warming Centre amidst the power outages.

We are very lucky to have such hardworking and dedicated staff and volunteer firefighters, especially throughout a challenging winter season.

Special thanks to the @ourwestgrey and the @countyofgrey for your assistance with staff and equipment resources and to @hydrooneofficial employees for working around the clock to continue to restore power in our community.

Your hard work and commitment are truly appreciated! by @growsouthgate
