🪴A Simple Plant Parent Guide for BUGS!!🐛 (Save this post for future reference!)

You probably have everything you need to combat the common pests that can be found in house plants!
Dish Soap, Alcohol, and Hydrogen Peroxide are your best friends!
The most common bugs I’ve found lurking around are: Spider Mites, Thrips, Fungus Gnats, Ants, Mealy Bugs and Scale.

For plants with Spider Mites or Thrips: Create some soapy water with your dish soap and use a spray bottle to saturate your plant’s leaves. (1 tsp dish soap and fill the rest of the bottle with water) Saturate the leaves, leave the plant with the soapy mixture on for 5-10 mins and rinse leaves off in the sink. I would do this once every day (for 3 or 4 days) and keep the plant in quarantine while checking for stragglers.

For Mealy Bugs/ Scale: Alcohol— you can spot treat by dabbing areas with them with an alcohol soaked paper towel/cotton balls or get some gloves on and try the dish soap method for a heavier infestation. Spray the plant with soapy water and then gently scrub the bugs off leaves with gloves. They should fall right off.

Fungus Gnats and Ants: I usually use the hydrogen peroxide method! (I have a reel on my Insta demonstrating using hydrogen peroxide with ants) Use a 1:10 ratio of 3% Hydrogen Peroxide and saturate the soil with the mixture!

Feel free to ask if you have any questions! Good luck with your planties! 🌱

I’ve been working on my greenhouse again and enjoying adding some more herbs and vegetables 🥰 I’ve already posted my tomatoes a thousand times haha but they keep making so many and they are so tasty too!

How are you and your plants doing this summer? 😊
